Mood/mental breaks make no sense during combat.
So Cassandra decided it would be really funny if she spawned infestation inside one of my power rooms and that's fine, I have prepared internal defense line for such occassions. Everything was going very well till one of my pawns (which was a shotgunner baiter, very important for my defense line to work) went on a mental state - hide in room last straw was hideous environment. Despite having joywire and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of augmentations to give them mood bost (transhumanist ideology) they decided to break down mentally whilst fighting for dear life of colony and self and they whine about the place being dirty - no shi t you just killed over 15 megaspiders and countless amounts of megascarabs, it was expected to get messy. So my question is - are there any mods that give mood boosts during draft (ex - changes expectations from late game high to extremely low for duration of draft) because it's really annoying when those kids breakdown over nothing while their lives are at stake.

Hideous Environment on its own shouldn't trigger a mental break if you have kept on top of mood, any drugs should help with that and Psychite tea is safe while also being a minor combat drug.

The only debuffs the pawn had was from being hungry, tired and no neural charge. Hideous Enviornment just punched them with more negative mood causing them to snap.
Edit / add :
I couldn't force them to go to the drug storage cuz it was quite far from the defense line and I was already getting other pawns on minor mood break - they were all drafted the moment the infestation started which was at night to minimize wealth loses.

That's a total of -39 (hungry -6, tired -12, hideous environment -15, wants neural supercharge -6).

That's a total of +37 (joywire +30, augments +7). I averaged two bionic parts, including the joywire, since you didn't specify.

That's a net of -2 (37 - 39). Not enough to bring a pawn from neutral mood down to mental break levels. There has to be other penalties you didn't handle.

I'm not an expert but even IRL soldiers can go crazy during combat. Hide in room sounds funny but think of it that the guy panicked and run away.

perhaps maybe lack of recreation and outdoors kicked in during the fight (we've been fighting them since 2 a.m to 6 a.m indoors cuz it's a mountain base) but still, pawns shouldn't breakdown mentally while fighting for their life.

I disagree. That's when mental breakdowns should be most frequent. Very few people have ever gone "oh s*it, I could die any moment, I feel completely calm and collected".

Most people without conditioning are shocked at combat.

This is very late game. My pawns slaughtered dozens of mechanoids and thousands of people. They have been shot, cut, bruised countless times so I don't think they would break down mentally that easily in combat after being through all that. They're really battle hardened but act like raw recruits that just got on the front lines.

That sounds like the recipe for a nervous breakdown to me :D

Surely a unmodified rookie would breakdown over that but not the literal walking machines (the only flesh part is their torso and head.) that have painstopper implants (from a mod) , joywires and many other brain enhancements surely wouldn't be bothered by that, after all, they're the army pawns. I'd expect my civils to breakdown easily under pressure of the long combat but not my literal transhuman arm (I like having my colonists being assigned roles, like there's only 5 colonists that are considered the army and receive the best augmentations and priority to implants and all others being civils that are only drafted when I get desperate.)

Yeah, repeated stress from constant combat never has any negative ill effects on a military veteran's mental health.

I'd expect them to breakdown after combat, PTSD does that to ya but not during it-adrenaline rush and all.

Thematically that breakdown made sense though. (Hunger, tired and on top of that combat).

I'm agree with this.
Ppls who didn't seen any situation irl, only watched action movies and playing CSGO, thinks it's ez for soldiers. It's not. And don't think it's easier for veterans, bc it's harder. It's goes harder every time you risk your life, every time you point your gun on another ppl, and every time you pull the trigger. It's just goes harder. Your hands start to shake, nightmares coming, your heart skips a beat when somebody slams the door, your eyes continuously looking for threats.
There are therapies to help you handle this, there are pills to help you stay "calm" or help you sleep. But it's building up inside you. You can drink, smoke, you can go to the gym, you can try many things and shts to release some steam, but it's building up. And you break. Not everybody breaks the same way. Some crying for hours, some goes berserk, some gets tantrum and smashing everything in the room. Some ppls start killing spree. Silent ones start cleaning their room.... over and over again.

...
Breaking mid combat, after combat, or in a RW situation (even if you have a thriving colony, death and threat is always there, behind the shiney curtain) it's so common. The game is just too forgiving.
