I'll give an example:
One of my colonist had a nervous breakdown (mood debuff), went out and dug up the corpse of a random pawn that tried to raid our compound, and just carried it around like a stuffed animal
Then I had 2 colonists who were lovers, and one of the colonist dumped her for another and she got all stabby and killed him.
I mean what other game has THAT?
Dwarf Fortress
Longest alpha ever ;-P
Just yesterday I had a case where I've sent a rescue team to save an unknown woman stranded somewhere in the while... Later i've found out that she was ex to one of my guys, who was now married with a woman from colony. So, right after she left hospital bed she had a social fight with the guy and both have landed in hospital. When they regained conciousness they went on fighting in hospital... so I'm already working on creating separate rooms in my hospital. But not sure whether this really helps ;-P. I wondering if the "third one", actually current wife, joins the fighting at some point or not ;-P
More of a Linux terminal simulator, as in you can actually play it in a terminal with ncurses text output on Linux.
Many games are worth, ok, etc... but rimworld isn't even on the same scale...
Rimworld:
- isn't a prototype sold as a full-game with missing features or buggy mechanics
- isn't a cash grab micro transaction piece of ♥♥♥♥.
- is made with passion and deep respect for customers
- gameplay is great, the adventure is epic, replay ability is core to this game.
- you don't need to finish the game, just surviving/thriving is fulfilling.
You wont regret the purchase, it will most likely be one 'o' your best purchase, in that list for sure.
EDIT: typos..
and thanks for sps
"Oh no, games that I can't point and click to play are too complicated!"
DF is really interesting both as a simulation and to show what humans can achieve given enough time, skill and passion, but Rimworld is definitely closer to a known gaming experience.
It's a good game and does what it does well, but it's also overrated and not for everyone.
