But yes, nothing will ever be comparable to the big 200+ eps shounen series like Naruto, One Piece, Pokemon, etc...
Specially the more recent, or ongoing ones.
But to really put things into perspective, that's like saying "I never heard of this Guild Wars game you're talking about, the only MMO I ever heard of is WoW"
Not sure where you're getting your rankings from, but it's definitely not one of the top 5 this season on Anime Corner, Anime News Network, or JW Magazine. Isn't even in the top 10 on the latter 2. Didn't even make Polygon's list, though theirs stopped at 10. That pretty much covers the ranked lists on the first page of Google results.

I suppose if you pick through enough ranking sites you can find one that backs up your claim. I went through several and the one you linked is the only one I saw that put it in the top 5. Most didn't even have it in the top 10. I'm sorry you think people not knowing your favorite anime is a personal attack, but calm down, hun.
Edit: Posted a minute after your post, 30s after I read it, first google result.
Those big ones like Naruto and One Piece are the ones everyone has heard of though, while other series might be pretty good and do fairly well but would only be recognized by people interested in those specific genres. Like I personally don't have much interest in short series, especially if they look kind of dark, it's possible I glossed over Overlord at some point and ignored it and completely forgot about it, but I had no actual knowledge of that show until reading through this thread.
Though looking into it now, I have seen Albedo around but didn't know where she was from.
I think it's very safe to say not every gamer has heard of Guild Wars, and every gamer has probably heard of WoW. Would you really argue that point?
The statement made here was, "Everyone has heard of the Overlord anime and you are living under a rock if you haven't." That's just ridiculous.
Your search criteria was apparently different. "Most anticipated" doesn't seem to line up with "most watched". Could relate to the fact that the former is based off opt-in polling with no checks to preserve accurate numbers.
The same could be said about someone who haven't heard of Shingeki no Kyojin (though this got a lot more popular more recently due to be shouted out by many non-anime sites, including some political podasts), Kaguya Sama, Kimetsu no Yaiba (though it was mostly thanks to a viral clip of it's high quality animation), Mushoku Tensei, etc..
This is certainly mainstream, sitting among the top, just below the multi-hundred-episode shounen series.
That's an interesting list, specially considering Engage Kiss is 3rd on it, so it's clearly outdated data and hype, not actual popularity, Engage Kiss is widely accepted as a flop, it started off really well, but it went down from the first episodes, it's watchable, but it's not and it will not be the 3rd of the season.
OL, by having the most hype, clearly shows it's popularity, granted the climax of the season wasn't reached and it's storytelling is lengthy, I suggest you keep watching these weekly rankings and notice how these 2 predictions will surely happen: OL will climb up towards the ending, possibly to the very first spot, and engage kiss will basically disappear.
And that's comming from someone who doesn't and never read any of the manga, ever, so I have no idea what will happen in the future, it's just a bet based on how it always goes on every single season it has aired, which you seem to want to deny for some reason.
It's too bad I can't find the posts from 2018 on this site, maybe I'm just looking in the wrong place, But I'd bet it happened with OL3, and 2, and 1 too.
Hun. Seriously. It's not a personal attack. Chill out. Stop being a jerk because everyone in love with your favowitest evew anime. And you're also wrong. Because of the flaws of said opt-in internet polling. The actual watched figures tell a different story.
That's the point though. I'm not saying Naruto is a better show, but it's an example of a show everyone has heard of. It's at more like 1000 episodes now, including Boruto. Different leagues.
It wasn't my list. You gave a different list. From the same site, yes, but tracking a different figure. We went over this already. Do try to keep up, hun. The list that matters is "most watched" which uses objective figures, not "most anticipated" which uses subjective opt-in polling with zero controls.
A very apt comparison, actually. Naruto has been around forever, has over a thousand episodes, has been merchandised to hell and back to the point where even people who don't follow anime know the show. THAT is a show everyone has heard of.
