Stop visitors from eating my food!!
Sometimes they just barge right into my storage area and take my meals. I'm assuming its to conserve the food they BROUGHT, but it kinda makes me want to murder them when I'm already on low reserves.

There is an option in there guest settings to disable giving them food, isn't it?
Will look for this when guest arrive next time.
No, I just checked. Vanilla visitors just wander around until they leave. You can't set food options for them.

IIRC, "forbidding" food stacks will prevent visitors from raiding your pantries.

You can always prevent them from eating your food "if you're low" by shooting those.. it's either you or them ^^

Accepting visiting neighbours as guests requires a responsibility as a host to provide hospitality. This may include feeding them as well as ensuring their safety. Therefore you have to prepare for this eventuality by making sure you have sufficient provisions for your colonists and visitors.
Not accepting visiting neighbours as guests is the alternative if you do not wish to be hospitable.
Kill them and accept responsibility for the consequences.
It's your call ;)
I'm not accepting any guests, its just the random visitors that come by (random trader caravans, travelling parties). I have zero control over where they decide to huddle around, and it tends to be near my food storage.
With colonists currently getting upset if you even kill a captured raider, I don't want to murder every visitor that comes around (plus the faction then getting mad at you slaughtering their friends).
I forgot. I use the Hospitality mod to make travellers into real guests. Then they have additional options for guests

This is an issue with base game, and is annoying, especially when you are on very rough survival map and your visitors animals start eating all your food and you can't do squat about it except kill them on sight.

Most human visitors have meals on them to keep them from stealing yours, but animals dont.

Close the storage with a wall during the visit doesn't help? So your colonists starve a day or two, but can stuff themselfes after visitors are leaving.
With how much you already have to micro-manage, I don't want them having to queue up work for a wall that will exist for a day, when that one task could be delayed for a long time if you have a lot of other work going on already.

Like it or not, these visiting neighbours have chosen to visit you.
You have two choices.
Treat them as guests and provide them with hospitality befitting guests, which means food and protection.
Or refuse to treat them as guests and end their visit with a bullet or two.

No, I don't have any choices. The base game literally will not allow me to do anything with them, give them beds, feed them, entertain them. I've crash landed on an unknown world and am trying to build a settlement to survive, not set up a damn hotel for wanderers. If I had any option to offer hospitality, then surely I'd have an option not to.
How about the option to tell visitors to leave my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ food alone.

So, you're going for the Europe challenge?

The only guaranteed (peaceful) way to prevent visitors from raiding your meals is to wall-in the food stockpile pre-emptively. Visitors do not care about restrictions on doors or items, and will happily walk through forbidden doors to grab forbidden meals.

You crash landed on a populated world and you have to deal with it.
They are your neighbours, so be neighbourly or don't be neighbourly.
Tell them not to eat your food if you don't want to treat them as guests by shoving a gun in their face.
You always have a choice. That's what this game is all about. Making the tough choices ;)
