Who's your favorite Story Teller?
I was wondering which Story teller people liked the best so I decided to ask, which story teller do you prefer? As for me, I like Phoebe Chillax, but she can be a bit too lenient on Community Builder Difficulty (yes I finally stepped up from Peaceful); while her raid sizes are good, her timing is somewhat difficult to manage; she gives a little too much free time between raids so I have lots of time to put my colonists to work on projects that don't grow my colony.

I like Randy. He's nice and slow, until he's not.

I have most hours using Randy, but the last time, going for the Royalty ending, I tried Cassandra. She took it easy on me, mostly. Lol I suppose Phoebe is next.

I just think Randy offering more pawns by default is just too hard to turn away from.

Cass is the only one I use these days, after running a colony under Randy which didn't have a single raid for seven years.

Cass all the way, Phoebe is *yawn* and Randy has too long periods of boring.

Of the basic ones I'd go with Not-Phoebe.

Randy can make the most challenging games, but also the most boring ones where nothing ever happens, so sometimes he's better than Cassandra, sometimes he's not, Cassandra is consistently challenging so it's never a bad pick.

I haven't seen many modded storytellers yet, but I really liked Cele Jackrabbit from the "Rabbie The Moonrabbit race" mod, she's like randy, if randy only ever had bad days.

Every time you get a raid, you know there are 2~3 more raids to come, possibly in the same day too, if you want to fill the map with so many corpses you'll need 4+ garaunlen trees just to haul them to the stone room before the next raid starts she's the storyteller for you.

Love Cassandra. Phoebe's an old friend, but only called up for those games where I just wanna kick back and enjoy the colony. For all other cases, it's Cassandra.

Cass is the best option. She's constant. Randy tends to fall asleep for years at a time. Randy is the meme, but imo he's about as easy mode as Phoebe.

I dont like Cassie. Too predictable. Ik if timer goes off, there will be a raid coming.
Randy is... well. Random.
To dont get boring days wen Randy is sleeping, i have tons of mods which adds events regardless of Storyteller events.
(Just 1 example: Vanilla Genetics Expanded - Roaming Monstroitis event)

Randy, until he goes on the usual long stretch of nothing. Then it's Cass time.

I don't think I have ever gone more than 1.5 years without a raid under Randy.

Cass tends to send too much at me during the early years. (I'm not good at the game.) I can't seem to stay ahead of her difficulty curve.

Phoebe for me, is how you all describe Randy. She'll do nothing for years. Then send a swarm of enemies loaded with armor and weapons. Which I'm never prepared for.

The modded storyteller, Livid Liara. She combines the randomness of Randy with the guaranteed scheduled raids of Cassandra.

Randy was my favorite. Getting a nuclear fallout on day 5 only happens with Randy. Randy also has a dark sense of humor. One of my colonists was close to a mental break because their bonded husky died and randy decided to send drop pods of dog leather nearby to the spot where my mentally unstable colonist was. It felt like he was purposely taunting my colonist which I found interesting. He's my favorite because he's unpredictable about everything: timing, generousity, bloodlust, cruelty, humor... Every new colony plays out differently than the one before it and he never loses his "new" feeling.

Cassandra is the storyteller who always gives regular events at regular intervals. If you play RimWorld long enough you learn the frequency, the typing and timing of her event schedule and you can anticipate when (but not what) Cassandra is going to throw something at you. It makes the game feel artificial because it's all hard set to happen at a specific time and you learn to predict when to be ready. It's a good teacher storyteller but the least enjoyable story teller for me.

Phoebe is a milder Cassandra. She also has preset events like Cassandra but with wider gaps of "peace" in between. But when she does hit you, it's turned up a bit higher than when Cassandra hits you. It always feels like Phoebe has a higher intensity on her events as if she stockpiles her power and then releases it all at once. You can fall into a trap with Phoebe where you become complacent with the calmness on the map and then out of nowhere you have a 40 man raid of tribals who spawned right on top of your miner who was collecting some steel from a distant node. But I do like how clean Phoebe keeps the sidebar by comparison. The other story tellers will fill it up in less than a year when Phoebe will take 4 years to send you that many events. But she's fun if you prefer a more "hands off" approach on your storytellers.

Randy feels more immersive, more natural, more believable. In RL, challenges don't scale to your ability. In the RL, if you swim alone, you can end up fighting two Great White Sharks or (more often) having a totally boring swim. Randy comes closest to reality for my way of looking at the universe.

Randy still does scale, but he can smack an extra 0.5-1.5x modifier on threat points.
