So thats how a potato types....
I don t get it, the guy is so stupid and not listening to whatever you say people, it s stupidly long topic for such a low life.
Even the best trolls have to die eventually. Why are you still here ? Just leave the troll alone.
- Factually incorrect - end of story.
I dunno about "this game is not for you" but I have seen youtubers say that a specific game was "not for all people"
From a marketing standpoint, you are explaining it yourself, alot fewer people have even reviewed this game that have terraria, this is because this game is so much more expensive.
What does a higher review score mean on here, in terms of the games overall quality ?
- Not much
Here you go
https://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/terraria
https://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/rimworld
Rimworld does not even qualify for a critic score, only a user score, it is much less know, much less reviewed, and expensive enough that only thoes who feel alot like it might be for them, will even try it, if you are in this category, you are mostly sure not to be disapointed, unless you misunderstood the kind of game it is.
So from the perspective of the general public, by all means Terraria is very likely are way better game, and sure to make way more monies than this one.
But to the niche that this game is for, I challenge you, to find just one real game to compare it to.
- And no I cannot find one for you, because I do not know one, if you link one that is truely comparative, I will likely instant buy it just to try more in this genre, if it looks remotely good.
Btw. regarding graphics - this game is most closely compared to a watered down version of this "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dwarf_Fortress" - google it it has arcii graphics! :-O
So yeah, that is how niche this game is. Stay clear if this is not your type of game, because it is overly complex and dragged out, with advanced gameplay.
To put it simply.
Terraria and RimWorld are very different games. But they overlap at one point - both games got a great working community.
There is not much room for hate, because both games fulfill the needs of the players. With every update, they implement as much as possible of the wishes of the community.
But why not a topseller? Tastes differ - RTS and sidescroller games are not as popular at this moment.
Its a fact that both games have many very similar aspects, I dont know why its so hard to grasp. Maybe you refuse to compare Rimworld to a cheaper better made game because it would look weak.
"Stay clear if this is not your type of game, because it is overly complex and dragged out, with advanced gameplay"
Terraria is also quite complex, the only difference here is that Rimworld has a crappy UI and tutorial and unintuitive gameplay.
I still dont get the argument that this game is niche and only people who know they'll like it buy it. At this point the game is getting heavily promoted by Steam, I keep seeing it on the front page. Considering Steam's refund policy + the high score + the front page promoting I dont get how more people didnt buy and refund the game.
Indeed haha... If he finds Terraria complex, then I think he might not even be trolling, just too unintelligent to even begin to comprehend Rimworld.
Sidescrolling RPG vs Base management game ---- Similar, how ?
Terraria complex ? Huh!? - It's extensive yes, well made yes, has lots of content yes. but complex ?... nope...
Could you atleast make a better effort of trolling #sadness, I was trying to have some fun debunking your claims... your supposed to make them more and more elaborate and crazy, not just be dumb...
Have a fine day sir.
@ OP - the game has high reviews because people like it, critics like it to. If you want to find out if you like it, buy it. If not, play the game you like.
No idea what this is supposed to be about. It's like making a post "why do people like vanillia ice-cream?" - I'd guess its because some people like the way it tastes?
Terraria and Rimworld have a ton of similarities. You are thrown into an unknown sandbox world, you need to explore/craft to survive, you have a ton of crafting/building options, you can build houses for NPCs and grow your 'colony'...
Difference is that Terraria is side scrolling rather than top down and you dont manage other colonists
Its funny because most of the positive reviews I read are people describing their fun experiences, while the negative ones point out toward design flaws related to the core game like poor AI/UI/pathing.
I just checked the reviews and the game got like 1-2k more in a few days while the score remains at 97%. I am officially calling shenanigans on this. There is no way in hell that the 97% of the average Steam gamers can enjoy this crap game that has browser art style, slow paced and unintuitive gameplay.
The score is a lie.
Edit: Heres a similar niche game with 'complex' gameplay, piss-poor art style.
