64 bit when?
so simple question the games good as is but sadly for us mod addicts here with 190+ mods the game lags & crashes too often IN THE MENUES before we even get to the game & sadly this is because this games only 32bit and as such can only use 1 prosessor & 2GB RAMon your system... Tyan dude I've 8 cores & 16GM RAM so I can throw 6 prosessors & 8GB Ram at this game when are you going to stop adding new expansions & focus of allowing us to play with huge mod load outs?

Rimworld won't just straight up tell you if mods are incompatible or in the right load order, you have to figure that out in your own.

look if you guys want you can go see the collection I'm useing on steam it MOSTLY Vanilla Expanded & patch mods for some stuff thats not followed by Humanoid Alien Races & between 5 & 10 of those omit Playable geth sadly mods dead as well as any thing to do with Dinosauria add in the multi threading mod & that's what I've got, and have followed the load order instructions on the mods that have them.

and AGAIN I'm comparing this to Minecraft as its the only OTHER game I have that gets over 100+ mods & ITS issues are solved by throwing more RAM at it THATS My only way of fixing a game that has these issues & Rimworld doesn't let me do so hell I had to get a mod to make it use more than 1 processor & THAT allows the game to launch from desktop in 10mins instead of 20mins & stops crashing in menu's MOSTLY.

From looking over Task Manager when the game enter the Not Responding state I see the RAM spike up but not high enough to process threw the issue & now the 6 of 8 3.5GHz Processors max out & then I have to close the game.

if there was a tool or something on steam to help with this like Nexus mods Vortex or something that didn't require launching the game threw it that'd be amazing.

That's not how RAM works.

again IF I KNEW That I'd Have the EDUCATION TO FIX IT! I'm a Monkey Trying to do Rocket science blind folded 1 armed & Deaf here telling me "that's not how ram works" is NOT helpful its tossing gas on the fire trolling

The short, very simplified answer as to why they're different is that Minecraft is coded in Java which requires you to define a max amount of RAM for the program to use, and if it tries going over that limit it breaks; while Rimworld is coded in C# which doesn't; the program will use as much RAM as it needs until no more is available.
We could help more if you post the contents of that log file you found earlier from right after the game crashes.

you have, or at least had, the attention of a person whom would have had the ability to help you, or at least point you in the right direction with the info you needed to fix the issue, and at least a handful others who would have put forth some effort to helping you figure it out.

64 bit and/or multithreaded isn't your issue. CPU and RAM usage isn't your issue; maybe that worked in minecraft but this aint minecraft.

the mods are your issue. read that line again. the mods are the issue. it doesn't mean you can;t use them, but you'll have to put in more effort than just saying "♥♥♥♥♥ broke, make it use more cpu and ram"

if you want anyone to actually help you instead of just putting gas on the fire;

POST YOUR LOG

its location was pointed out before. or don't, i dont really GAF at this point.

edit: if all else fails, mod #73, reverse alphabetical sorting of course, is the issue.

Java runs games in a virtual machine and that is why it needs to be set specific amounts of RAM as the program running inside the virtual machine cannot access resources outside of said VM.

C# and its kin do not behave like that.

We need the log to see the exact load order you are using and to see if any patch spamming is going on (aka a silent mod conflict that won't show as an error) or if there is any other easily spotted issue by experienced modders/fixers/coders.

If you want the education to fix issues like this then you will want to cooperate with us as we will show you want is going wrong and how to fix it.

There are free file sharing sites meant for things like this, Pastebin does have a limit these days but if the file is small enough you could paste it there and copy the link into a reply.

what?
whatamidoing Sep 28, 2022 @ 4:52pm
Open https://pastebin.com/, open your Player.log file from after the game crashed, select all the text in the log file, copy it, paste it into the "New Paste" text box on pastebin, maybe change the exposure to unlisted if you care, hit create new paste, share the link.
You can also just drag and drop it onto something like https://catbox.moe/ and share the link from that.

Without knowing the details, there are just some general suggestion that I can give.

The way you described your mod load order it sounds like you did it manually, while that can work i personally would suggest to use RimPy and use the autosort function in there. Basically always works for me with maybe only a few mods that i need to manually place. It will also show if any mods are missing or some known incompabilities.

Another thing that you could try would be to delete all the mods and config data and redownload them maybe even the whole game. Steam seem to sometimes have issues with mod updates and doing that helped me with some rimworld bugs.
Dont know if that will help you.
Also the game sometimes hang up for me too on startup, but i just wait it out. Normally the game will still load but the time it takes depends on which mods and how many you have.

I hope you also checked the info with rimthreaded about its incompabilities with other mods as it does not work with everything. Personally i use Rocketman/Perfomance Optimizer/Dubs Performance Analyzer and Performance Fish (this is available in Dubs Discord) to improve performance. I have over 300 mods including most of the Vanilla Expanded series and get stable high TPS for years in game.

Skipping most the above talk
Mods will use whatever ram it needs, the game will only use as much ram as it needs
My rimworld at 155 mods uses 21gb of my 32gb ram lol(8gb after unload)

If you are crashing at load up initial
The mods/ game can use all ram(96%) initially before unloading
So programs like discordgoogle chrome Firefox can interfere as it uses ram otherwise going to be used temporarily =crash

I'm not a fast reader, I just timed myself, and the wall of text in question took me 28 seconds to read.

Throwing ♥♥♥♥ isn't going to fix anything. Behave.

You have your answers and solutions, now go sort out the mods. Or post a log and ask for help properly and respectfully.
Quit berating people who are educating you. Stop being a stubborn and entitled troll that blames everything and everyone but his own ignorance while simultaneously touting it like some sort of defense. You have no idea what you're doing and you know it, so you should NOT be rejecting help and placing blame on obviously, factually incorrect assumptions you pulled out of your ass and are demonstrably false.
Sort yourself and read up on how to properly run mods in Rimworld.
