Husky's food management
So i got a lot of huskys which are hauling my crops like potatoes etc into the stockpile. To feed them i make kibble out of hay and some meat. The problem is that the dogs also eat the potatoes which are for my colonists. When i restrict the Stockpile area with potatoes the dogs won't haul the stuff anymore.
Any idea how to let the dogs haul the potatoes but let them only eat kibble?
Sorry for my bad english :)

I tend to make a room for hauling dogs. make a stockpile for kibble. they tend to eat at waking up so they go for the kibble.

otherwise they just eat a bit of potato. most times I would ignore it

Maybe a mod that gives pets food limits like you have for colonists

As jie mentioned creating a food stockpile near where your animals sleep tends to solve most food related issues. They eat what you want them to eat in the morning and that tends to last them the day usually.

That said potatoes are far more efficient for animals to eat than kibble, almost as efficient as raw hay. If you think you are "supposed" to be feeding animals kibble because that sounds correct from a logic point of view, you might want to reconsider the costs. There are very few situations where kibble makes sense as animal feed and Huskies never fall into any of them. Kibble is mainly for carnivores (other than wargs) that you don't want hunting or eating corpses, or that are going on a caravan trip. If you just like the idea of using kibble for animals, or want to keep your cooks working a lot though, it's fine and probably wont cause major issues.

Kibbles makes a great backup food for critters if you use insect/human meat. Aka stuff humans will not want, to build it up over time. Trainers will grab it first rather than the main meal stockpiles from what I've seen. Plus it does level up cooking some, so not a total waste.

I started to produce kibble because i read somewhere on reedit, that it supposedly is more efficient than vegetables. After thinking about it i guess it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and you're right. It's to much work to produce it.
I will just expand my agrar fields to get more potatoes.
My biggest fault was to get to many huskys. 100 Dogs are surely a lot to feed :')

That's an option ya, if you don't want to turn that human/insect meat into something more useful like chemfuel, or just sell it for silver. Growing a little more hay and selling your human/insect meat is generally going to be more efficient from a min/max point of view. I usually turn it into chemfuel. Obviously not everyone wants to min/max and it doesn't really matter much here, I just think it's always worthwhile to point out, just in case.

Making chemfuel doesn't level my butcher's cooking skills. Most games I find it cheaper and more efficent to raise boomalopes for chemfuel if I need it.. So it's a trade off, some kibble stashed for cold snaps/toxic clouds/etc that leveled up my butcher's cooking skill, or a few coins I don't need due to having more profitable enterprises.

i got a fridge close to the animal pen that has hay and the corpses of my enemies, animals don't care about seeing corpses, the corpses seem to last a very long time before they are consumed.
it seems to me they last longer then the kibble i could make from them :)

Yeah, corpse fridge for animals to eat is a good way of taking care of raiders. I also make insect meat into kibble just to make use of the insects corpses.

This. Yeah an unnaturally long time...I keep having to expand my cave-fridge to fit all of them and can't remember the last time I had to feed my pets, its great.

I tried to place animal beds in front of a stockpile with corpses, but the dogs still prefer to walk a longer way and eat potatoes from my main stockpile.
The corpses stockpile is in there restricted zone.
What am I doing wrong?

Tried to feed corpses to huskies. They will eat them, but as a very low priority I believe, so you'd need area or diet restrictions to make it work. If you want a versatile animal that hauls and likes to eat corpses pigs are an example of something that works, pigs have a special omnivore tag that prioritizes corpse disposal, it's part of their utility. Otherwise corpses are more for carnivore management, like big cats or wolves.
