health tab

I don't think so and the reason I say that is because I had a doctor (and one with pretty high stats), yet could not cure himself when he got the plague

you have to activate self tend on the health tab it is forbidden by default so low skill pawns dont do dumb things.
It comes at a penalty tho so its better if you have someone else do it if you have a viable back up doc

Makes sense, actually

It does not just have a penalty on quality, but people will also likely get infections from it, since it usually happens on the spot and not in a sterile environment. It's an option you wanna use when you only have 1 doctor who is bleeding and all other pawns are down, but not something you wanna use as default like the other factions do.

Better if a 0 doctor skill pawn patching up your doctor till he is not bleeding to death.
Self tend is only viable when you have only 1 pawn on feet.

Self tending is only 70% as effective. But if your doc has low manipulation due to injurys it will reduce that even further.
If I only have one doc I leave them in self tend. It's not a big deal.

Also to self tend the pawn has to be able to move. If he is bedridden he won't do it.

It is a perfectly viable course of action to self-tend destroyed body parts though. They can never get infected, so it may be totally appropriate for someone to staunch the bleeding of their own stump arm before going back to the hospital.

If I'm not mistaken in RimHUD you can always turn on/off self-tending.

Tribals starts have no penalty to self tend. It's an undocumented effect for some reason.

Where did you get that from? The code just says:
if (doctor == patient && doctor != null) { num *= 0.7; }

There is no check for tribal.

I always start solo tribal and I definitely notice the self-tend penalty.

He told it's undocumented. Mean: not documented in the code.
