Slate Chunks Everywhere
I've Googled this a couple times now and it seems like the answer I keep finding has to do with a problem much less severe than mine. The stuff is everywhere...I've been mining my HQ out of a mountain, so its taking up about 2/3 of my floorspace here.
Cutting it into blocks takes waaaay too long, is that really the only real way to deal with this?
Man this is annoying!

You could always just setup a dumping stockpile and have your haulers take them away.

Make sure to put that stockpile somewhere out of the way.

Besides that, if you don't mind "cheating" you could delete them with dev mode.

Are you saying that slate leaves more chunks that other types of stone?
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Or use them to your advantage to slow raiders down
Cut them in to blocks
Make stuff with the blocks
Sell the stuff

Profit

THIS! Jesus criminy, I didn't notice that dumping zone gump. Created one and BOOM, cleaned it right up.

No, Esculapio, I've only been mining slate so wouldn't know either way. Just know that it piles up really fast =]

The dumping zone is one of the first things the in game tutorial goes over. Cos yeah otherwise you'll end up with loads of rocks everywhere. Even in an open base.

I do this and use the dumping zone as a no mans land for raiders

FYI, there really is nothing special about them being "dumping stockpiles", they are just stockpiles pre-configured for dumping items and bodies. You can configure the same stockpile by making a regular stockpile and giving the appropriate filters.

I only say that because many people who start Rimworld have played Dwarf Fortress, and there is a difference in that game.
