ascetic is the bestest trait....
Since there's a thead about the dumbest traits, I decided to make one about the best, at least IMHO.

Ascetic lets you give your pawns garbage rooms and feed them garbage,,, almost literally, and they're ok with it. You can feed them that biopaste schitt for years and years and they're ok with it, a room with rough walls and no floor, that's ok, they deserve it and they're good with it.

A colony with all ascetics would be epic, food would never be an issue as they can happily live off paste, don't need to worry about wasting resources decorating a room.

Industrious I think comes in second.

Trigger happy is either second or third IMHO. 5% accuracy penalty means almost nothing since nobody can hit anything anyways, and is a beyond fair tradeoff for 50% reduction in aiming time. I don't know why the wiki is trying to make it seem like trigger happy is the worst trait though.

You can feed dead raiders to your colonist and he gets +20 mood boost

My favorite is tough. Ascetic is pretty good for a solo colonist or if a couple that share a room both have the trait. I dislike ascetics that are married or lovers with another that isn't ascetic.

Cannibal is so good I describe it as practically cheating. Like, you can live on an ice sheet, BECAUSE you are a cannibal, lol.

Super Immune is rather nice too. Especially if it's on your main doctor!

A lot of the good perks are situational.. where the bad traits are always a bother

Can't offend anyone if there's noone to be offended.
Well, except maybe the odd visitor but who cares about those.

i just lost one of my best colonies, no mods to two of those. Made sure to leave two fighters to guard while my adventurers, well pillaged. The was not one wall left standing when my party returned. Raided after and lost lol needed those turrets, well everything. They make great story telling arcs.

I agree with tough and ascetics is really nice early on but than I have to move them to a cave or somewhere it wont bother me to see a colonist in a bummer of a room. I wonder if putting them in the barn could work.

Thats wrong, its not 5 percent penalty, but 5 shooting skill penalty, its lkke your trigger happy shooter with skill 11 shoots like level 6. The end result often be like 20 percent less chance to hit enemy or something

I still like this perk, you just need pump your boy with bionic eyes and drugs and give suitable weapon to make him killing machine

Well, with an ascetic, you only get a small bonus compared to what you could get later, as you develop your colony. It's ONLY good for the early game.

Industrious gives the same awesome bonus throughout the player's entire game and doesn't have a downside.

I find not having to worry about food and decorations a huge bonus throughout the entire game. The food part alone is a win, you can plop down a paste dispenser and fill it up with whatever and they're perfectly happy with it. That is a win all on it's own.

Lol, then find someone incapable of violence wearing power armor in cryosleep. Then you have no temp problem at all.
