be really nice if my animals didnt just die
First thing my game notifies me of is death... no illness, no issues... just a death. Turns out that it was too late, and literally all but 1/30 of my chickens die.... no warning or heads up, just "btw they are already dead"

I get that I should have checked, but literally no warning system at all?

I've had this as well where 10+ animals died at one time. I DO think it would be funny to be one of the colonists and see that happen... Chickens just clucking along and then...Ack! Dead, all at one time. Seems like the colonists should freak out if/when that happens. I know I would.

why did they die? can't be starvation because game notifies you if an animal is starving, it also notifies if it's an illness. old age? you can't do anything about that

was the cold, I got a notification that a chicken had died of frostbite, looked at my chickens, they were ALL at the last stage, so it was too late to get them into the warmth to save them, they all died within like the same in game night

So... you didn't keep an eye on the temperature.
You didn't keep your chickens in a heated coop and let them sleep outdoors in the cold.
You're a crappy livestock farmer ;p
It would be really nice if you cared better for your animals ;)

yes, but it would be nice if the game said "your chickens are freezing!" as some kind of warning. I've had this happen too, but it was an overheating issue. As it stands, the only way to know if there's an issue is to take a look at the animal to see it's "safe temperature" and monitor them individually.

Cold weather will do it. Pigs and chickens need to be in a heat regulated environment. They can die from anything freezing and below.

Could have also been toxic fallout. Or drug overdoses. It is weird how they all died at once though.

i mean you can inspect the corpse and see what killed them. It was all frostbite. Just mad that the only notification was the first death, when it was too late to save the rest.

yeah, chickens are very cold sensitive, I think it only takes -1 or so and they start to feel it. now you know that you need to plan ahead for the winter/cold snaps.

It's stupid that the chickens dont just by themselves got into the chicken coop when they freeze. You guys do know that irl animals are not THAT stupid that they wont go inside where the heat is if they are freezing? Why make it different in this game? This is just a lacking feature.
