Unknown. Previously the devs have just used firebird for both patch and DLC development. Mirage was added fairly recently, it might imply whatever project is being worked on is fundamentally incompatible with the live branch and firebird, but whether this is a 1.4 update or the DLC update isn't going to be known by anyone but the devs.

when was mirage added and could it have to do with the steam deck compatibility?

I thought it was to do with Euclid but they updated mirage yesterday so I was wondering what it meant as the update had no news of upcoming dlc or updates

I noticed mirage existed I think 3 or 4 months ago but I don't check SteamDB that often so don't have an exact time. I don't think it's related to steam deck. For the most part DLC work in the past has been done in a more modular way so that while working on firebird for the DLC they can push out normal updates by just excluding the DLC content. It's like how you can play vanilla 1.3 right now without Ideology, the DLC is just tacked on like a mod and easily separated. I would guess mirage indicates an update of some complexity that doesn't allow the content to be detached from the game in that way, some sort of major engine level change. This could be anything from extra layers of threading, to something like a multiplayer update, to just a rework of how the game simulates certain core data for optimization.

I have suspected for like a couple years or so based on Ludeon hiring notices that they have been planning or working on a multiplayer update. My guess is that is what mirage is, and it will be part of the 1.4 update not the DLC. I also guessed 1.3 would have multiplayer though, and it obviously did not, and there's a good chance I'm wrong again, but I do believe it is something that is coming still.

Afaik they are working on another game too that could have a multiplayer part. Not sure how many people would be happy with them using resources on developed gameplay that they will never ever use. There has been a ton of fighting about this topic.

Mirage is what humans call "old money." Before the war, he was a member of affluent Cybertronian society, with his own large estate and high-priced friends. He enjoyed the finer things in life: vintage energon, swank evening events, and turbofox hunts on the grounds. But when the war started, he was forced to choose sides and found himself banded with a group of commoners he didn't really understand.

Some of the other Autobots don't trust Mirage. He feels the war, even after all these millions of years, is beneath him. War is not, after all, how civilized, erudite beings conduct themselves. He often questions the Autobots' violent means, and not-so-secretly hopes they and the Decepticons can get along. Because of this, he has been labelled by a few others as a Decepticon sympathizer. Still, he sided with the Autobots for a reason, and he is there for the Autobots when they need him.

Although the details vary by continuity, Mirage has the ability to create illusions which typically either render him invisible or make him appear to be somewhere he isn't. In some universes, he can combine with his fellow Autobots to form Optimus Maximus or Betatron.

^-- This.

Based upon the above and their subscription to Steam's multiplayer API/dev tools/suite. Though, that could have been done for their other project, but I would have thought they would have done that during the planning stages. Then again, I don't know when they actually started work on that other project.

if there Is another expansion i hope its more world building, minor events and creature focused.
i rarely even look at the world map and once i settle into a place i am comfortable with i rarely see anything from other regions like creatures or distant factions because the world rarely changes.

-world changes (more biomes to wouldnt be to bad either) and possible new faction types

-world events for example: stuff like tile is hit with a meteor shower making the tile hit covered in crashed rocks and the tiles next to it and itself have volcanic ash for a few days with higher temperature, higher possibility of rare ores and alien creatures (as well as raids) inside those zones.

- minor events expansion to spice up local stuff such as long lost relative coming to meet their family (possible ambush) or some lost drone ship littering the area with paper (trash) due to its old AD campaign programming, etc, lots of creative stuff out there!

-more creatures, especially alien in nature and dont specifically need to come from the current planet they can be infesting a crashed ship and dropped in as a world event (see above)

- (this would be to complex i guess but hey i'll throw it out there) genetic engineering creatures, aka mutations, genesplicing new creatures as an endgame possibility and might attract... "official response teams" (im sure WH40k fans know this hint ;) ) but again this would likely be to complex as a feature

- high tech luxuries related to world events or world changes, stuff like crashed cruiser ships loot, meeting up with smugglers for stuff you cannot create only find (stuff drones, higher tech benches for new gear options, etc) would be fun ways to incentive exploring the world while also adding in new stuff to aim for that cant just be simply crafted
(regarding drones, i know the robot mod exists but if this was done officially this would actually be beneficial for the mod since they could use this addition to expand their own mod if they so chose)

I somewhat agree but I feel that drones and robots should be fully player built they could have two types base ones that are average in stats and abilities and a much more powerful variety you could build after a archonexus win with a follow up playthrough it would make sense since the whole reason you are waking it up is for power and what screams that better than higher robots and gene modded creatures it would be great if robots had two varieties prebuilt and modular with modular being built using a system of different part options so more freedom and power in return for much higher resource costs and factory line types that are basic and mass produced for low-medium cost as for the gene modded creatures that sounds great and it would be nice to have insect hives we could create under our own control plus aliens that are humanoid would be great finally creatures and robot themed implants would be nice
Krankus Wrexus Apr 7, 2022 @ 2:27pm
By creature themed one I have wanted for a while would be a commander implant that causes a pawn to create scarabs much like how the dryad trees create them but if they die then the insects take time to respawn and while doing so the pawn is immobile and in pain
Krankus Wrexus Apr 7, 2022 @ 2:28pm
Or a thrumbo implant that raises natural heat and increases power but causes the pawn to become very weak to heat
