Styling station or most useless building
does anyone even dye their clothes for a puny mood boost?

It's basically free, so yeah, I build it and use it. Having a uniform is also aesthetically pleasing.

My biggest issue with unmodded before the styling station - was diversity. Everyone wearing the same coloured item because you only had standard white cloth.

but at the same time, the materials themselves color it no worse. here to create clothes from some Devilstrand or Hyperweave already brings both psychological and aesthetic pleasure. it's not the result that matters, but the process, and the painting process itself is a waste of time, no more

Nah that is useful.

The most useless building would be the IED Firefoam trap. You are essentially helping the enemy by extinguishing all fire that could damage them.

this is very good for helping enemy colonies when you want to burn them down

Having hyperweave clothing on every body part for every colonists is pretty utopian. I usually have some high quality textile capes (usually thrumbofur) for my melees while the rest wears bulk textile dusters. The melees also only have the white capes and the rest of the clothing is random bulk, because it's a complete waste to do anything else. The styling station allows players to still have them look uniform.

If you want a chaotic look, just let the colonist colour the clothes in their favourite colour instead of the ideology colour. The styling station allows you both to make people look the same when you use different materials like rare + common textiles AND it allows you to make your people look different if they all just wearing cotton clothes.

and why do they look the same? I see such people as newcomers who want to make senseless perfectionism in all the colonies. chaos and destruction are much closer to rimworld
I like imposing order on the chaos. I WILL build my rectangles along a grid and nobody can stop me!
That said, I like letting my pawns color their helmets their favorite color for a bit of a human touch.

IED Firefoam traps put out fires, not create them.

on the contrary, they turn into identical pacifiers. look for any screenshot where a person repainted his colonists and compare the appearance of the raiders with them.

Raiders don't have colored steel helmets. I like the uniform look for the main outfit, though. Why would I want my group to look like disorganized rabble? Again, making order from the chaos is kind of the point for me. You should see what I make in Minecraft if you think having a uniform color is bad.

The only thing bad about it is really is that it kinda devalues the coloured cloth that you can rarely buy from traders. Kinda pointless to have such a rare commodity still in the game now that you can just easily make it yourself in a big amount.

Why use pretty tiles? Why use colored lights? Why not just make my base a square? Idk dude I think its neat to make things look good and sometimes my pawns like it a little too.
