I got one tribe to become reasonably friendly with me and start trading... And then they were visiting and a bunch of maddened deer appeared and slaughtered them. They blamed me (like I had any control over that) and now they hate me again. My only consolation is that the traders that were killed were slavers so I like to think those deer were karma. :P
If you like mods, take a look at https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=753498552&searchtext=hospitality. If you give your visitors enough places to sleep, something fun to do and you have enough socially adept people set to negotiate with them it can dramatically improve relations as well as offering minor trading opportunities and a chance to recruit new colonists (although that will cause a hit to your faction relationship, how much depends on how valuable the recruit is, and if the rest of the visitors are also having a great time it can offset it almost completely.)
Also this one looks like it should, although I haven't tested it https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1225610022&searchtext=ransom
