So if you have a unfinished steal mace and steel helmet the easiest way would be to queue those items up at the crafting station but making sure that ONLY the person that worked on the unfinished products is allowed to make said queued items. Said pawn/s should then retrieve the unfinished products and finish them.
Alternatively you can click the unfinished items and cancel it to get the materials back.
Very straightforward answer! I actually replaced my old smelter / crafter with a new recruit who has higher crafting skill! And yeah I guess I did cancel the production (I don't remember why I did that). Now it all makes sense. Many thanks! 😁
As for swapping out crafters: you could change the names on the main bill, then create a new bill for "do 1 times" of the exact item with the old crafter. That way they should pick up the unfinished item and finish the job - so long as nobody's decided to reserve the object for hauling elsewhere, of course.
