Compact Weapon choice
Is there any reason to pick anything except knee spike?
They have the highest arp rating among all 3 CW implants, deadly but slow hit, hand talon has a fast cut attack with high dps but very low arp rating.

38% penetration vs 15%, am I missing something ?

also wounds on bionics dont inflict pain so it can keep them going for longer as pain can reduce counciousness which in turn effects manipulation and moving
Iirc melee works like thus:
the game has 3 categories die your attacks. Best, mid and worse.
Your best attack, the one with highest DPS(this is based on both damage and attack speed) is used 75% of the time. If you have multiple attacks with the same DPS they are all out in the best catagort and chosen at random when it rolls that 75% so there's no pointing in having 2 power claws if that's your best attack for example.
Then your worse attack, often your fists has a 0% to be used. So it's removed basicly.
And everything else is put into mid having equal chance if being used when ever the game rolls the 25% chance of using a mid attack. This includes throwing sand or water in the eyes as well.

So adding more stronger attacks to the mid category will up your DPS, but only by a VERY small amount.

For some reason this info isn't under combat page on the wiki, but hidden under the melee weapons page.

As others have said the role of these items are go give ranged pawns a fighting chance when they are engaged in melee combat. I would recommend a mod that lets you install both bionics and the compact weapons. Makes more sense a bionic arm would have a retractable blade rather than a fleshy arm any way.
