Basically you want to keep the paths to your colony and colonists as few as possible so the AI will take the path of least resistance. If a tribal group didn't bring sappers, they're not likely to dig through rock or blow up a wall to progress.
In later stages I build a wall around the entire map and leave a 1 square opening that leads to traps and turrets. (There are doors in the wall for hunting and repairs)
If you have any boomalopes try taming them then sending them into the enemy, or just use animals in general. You get food and less wounds to the colonists that way!
I'll try those! Thank you so much, I thought about the killbox and so, but never have read or thought about the boomalopes thing
Also wealth management.
I've read a bit about wealth and how it affects raids, but I'm not sure about how to manage it as you say. My colony is right now 100k total wealth but it doesn't seem that I've a lot of things at all. I also try to gift some resources to close factions so I can ally with them. Is there anything else I should do to get the wealth down?
If you have a somewhat big amount of something in your storage you could ask yourself "do I need this much?", but for the most part you do not need to worry if you are not a person prone to grabbing and keeping every bit they see. Some things can be a bit tricky since the stack up a lot. Having "only" 2 stacks of wake-up (or most drugs really) is a ton of wealth already.
I still have not succeeded at making a good kill box style death trap, but I handle large groups with lots of spike traps. At the least, it works out well for the game for a few years before I stabilize and maybe lose interest in that colony or lose interest in playing for a bit, then return to it again at some future time, at which time there are probably more changes and mods so I start up a new colony and use a lot of spike traps again. I'm one of those players that like the beginning of a new colony a lot...as it gets easier to do things in the colony, whether by having more colonists or higher skills, I tend to lose interest.
Also, you can try to keep your colony wealth down when your group isn't that strong yet. Many people don't play with groups of 10 or 20 or 50 colonists, so there are definitely ways to survive with 6 colonists.
In a steam geyser room the temp will already be 40c to 50c in that room to start. It should heat up to about 200c+ and cause anyone inside to quickly get heatstroke and pass out.
