As the title says, if you live in Australia, do not try to buy steam keys from online retailers, it will give you an error saying that the product can't be purchased in your region.

I've have purchased keys from Humble Bundle, Eneba and Fanatical all with the same result. So don't even attempt to try, it's futile.

EDIT: You can't get a foreign friend to gift you the game either.

Yeah they locked down the whole foreign key thing for games a few years ago. Found out the hard way with some lewd jrpgs. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ nanny state. :(

Buy the game directly from the dev instead, you get a Steam key (which may or may not work because Australia) + a DRM-free download link (which will work because screw you Australia) + everything you pay goes straight to the dev without Steam taking like a third of the money for "administering the sale".

the game will probably come back sooner or later so hold onto steam keys

Well thats pretty obvious, but will they still take your money? That's the only concern i have about your warning here. You can just get your purchases refunded.
