How to kill tamed boomalope?
There are too many... how do I slaughter them without killing everyone?

Setup an animal starve zone in the water or grab your guns draft your colonist and have em fire till they're dead then clean up the fire. Actually I forgot these are now herd animals so you will have to figure out how to complete these instructions fully with a pen.

Release them and mark them for hunt (or just release them). Selling them is probably easier though. You might also just sterilise most of them to avoid this in the future.

Release then hunt when it's raining

(Duh, misread the title... brain pooted and I read Boomalope as Muffalo... 'cause I don't have enough coffee in my blood supply.)

With a flamethrower. It's the only way.

Put a few in a seperate zone and have colonists shoot from a distance, or make a pen for them on a river and have your colonists slaughter normally, they might get a little singed by the fire will go out quick.

Easy way if you don't want the meat/leather is to form a caravan... and then head back without them

I usually find a nice stone floor, and then set up a pen or whatever and restrict the boomalope to that. You also will want to turn off "Handling" skill for a couple minutes so it can starve without your pawns rushing out to feed it. In 1.3 with Pens it's a little better, but make sure your pawns aren't going out to feed that starving boomalope.

Pawns are also smarter now about hunting exploding animals and they'll stand off from downed boomers and keep shooting until they explode.

But tbh, it's way simpler to just release them.

Starved animals also give less butcher yield now.

You could always use ideology and sacrifice it on an altar, the results are quite impressive

Can put them all in a caravan and head to the nearest town to sell/gift them as well. You get something out of it, it's fairly easy, but it's not slaughtering.

In my case, I don't slaughter tamed boomalopes and boomrats. I just bring excess animals of these species on caravans to trade for silver.

Alternatively, when I attack tribal enemy bases, I take a psychic animal pulser and at least 5 boomalopes or 10 boomrats. I then build a shelter for my pawns without a door, but with enough sleeping room and food, close it up, then activate the pulser, for the animals to attack the tribals. Even if some tribals survive, they're generally slowed from being wounded/burnt.
