I administer drug if my colonist in extreme pain
I assume this means you haven't treated her wounds or ilness yet? The best way to deal with pain is to treat the cause of the pain and then give it some time/bed rest.
(I don't think I've had anyone with something very serious in those incapacitated colonist quests. Usually it's something that can be patched up on the spot and they'll be up in about a day, nothing life threatening or shattered spines or anything like that.)
Herbal medicine works perfectly to treat most wounds. The more rare and expensive Medicine is best saved for more serious ailments, like infectious diseases etc.
But that's not the "drugs" 8something is referring to. (There are a few types of drugs in the game, like smokeleaves, which can reduce pain temporarily.)
The real issue isn't the pain, it the inability to walk. Go to the hostages medical tab and see why they can't walk. If it is just low conciousness caused by pain, it will clear up soon. If it is a more serious problem (Drug addiction, destroyed limbs, major disease...) then you are probably better off leaving the hostage to the wolves and abandoning it.
She should be fine though. Just takes a little bit of time, and then the pain gradually reduces as the wounds heal more.
I'm not sure what a lean-to hangout is either, but I think LYNX Scout just meant a temporary shack which provides basic shelter, pretty much like you did.
(What I usually do in such cases is let my other pawns work on producing food non stop while she heals up. Plop down a fireplace, hunt some wildlife and harvest some local berries, cook up some simple meals, and I usually pump out some Pemmican as well, as that'll stay fresh for a long while. Though I'm guessing you haven't researched that yet, but that's ok, simple meals will do.)
\\EDIT: how has this not been suggested yet?
