Colonists walking over construction tile - interrupting
Last I played was in A16 and I don't recall this happening... if I'm building a door and a colonist walks through the tile where my construction pawn is building, they stop building and go do something else... is this known behavior? Anyone to get them to keep constructing no matter what? Or to stop pawns from walking over those tiles?

Huh? I've never seen this behavior happen before! Have you made sure your work window is set up properly? Is there any more info you can give to help?
Work window is set up - it's like a pawn/animal will walk over the space constructor is working on, so they'll stop working (leaving it partially finished) and go onto to something else (whether another construction job or whatever is next on the priority list).
Huh... That's so strange. I've never had this issue ever. Can you check your error log and see if it reports anything when that happens?
It definatly happened in A17 as well. Possibly to prevent an exploit or something.
It was a change made in 0.18.1712 to prevent pawns and items from having walls built on top of them.
Does it stop them building themselves into corners or do we still need to keep an eye out when building double thick walls without building the inner layer first?
I'm pretty sure they can still build themselves into corners.

sometimes they do, sometimes they don´t.
Should be easy to reproduce - destroy the door to your freezer, build an auto door with a low construction pawn and see what happens when people try and get in/out of the freezer.

It's not the end of the world, just annoying as it forces you to micromanage (or if it's not important just go back and build it when everyone is asleep)

i had a dog walk over a the last wall being built. so the builder went to bed.

next thing you know the cat is gonna hop in their cornflakes so they'll jsut decide they dont need a meal right then.

lol.

It's not really an issue, and you don't need to micro-manage. Most of the time you are building multiple things and if one of them is interupted they skip it then come back to it moments later. If you are just trying to build one door in a high trafic area, it might take a few attempts, but they don't lose progress and they will keep coming back to work on it until it's done.
I would agree but if you're adding in a new air conditioner to your freezer due to a sudden heat wave, and every keeps going in the brand new gap because its faster than going through a door it can be a problem

Well you can use allowed zones to restrict the passage for scenarios like that.

Why wouldn't your freezer be double-walled in that situation? Remove one wall, build the cooler, then remove the second wall, no loss of cool air at all. If there's no space for a double wall all around, just build a temporary extra wall to act as a seal while you build the cooler, I would do this anyway if the contents on my freezer were in danger of spoiling. I only make gaping holes in the freezer if it doesn't matter if it warms up for a while.
