1 - how do i stop my heatsink rooms from becoming holocaust ovens
2 - how do i get steel up in space
3 - once i give my colony away to some other faction when i go to a different planet, can i reclaim it or smthn when i get back?
4 - just since a few minutes ago i can't launch shuttles from my ship
1- build one or more active radiators on your ship to get rid of excess heat, the more the faster... in the worst case cut a hole into an overheated room for a short term solution.
2 - the easiest way is to let one of your pawns or an AI core scan for ships and orbital sites. the easiest are abandonded and wrecked ships you can move to your Ship Map for salvage.. and sometimes Ancient Pawns in Cryptosleep
3- if you give your colony to another faction you give it to that faction, they will remember your gracious donation if you decide to return to your original Planet and will send supplied and gifts and such but you won't be able to "reclaim" the site.
4 - no idea, are your shuttles fueled, is your shuttle bay unobstructed?
Edit: Still doesn't work, I'm currently stranded on my ship. I've even tried a different shuttle but nothing. I started a ship fight and the ship spawned inside of mine so it must be some kind of map issue.
A shuttle bay does not need to have it's roof removed. They work perfectly fine with the ship roof installed. And yes, you can launch shuttles during combat. It's part of combat to launch boarding parties. The AI will certainly do this, and you can do it too. You just need to be real careful not to accidently blow up your own boarding party. You can send pawns over to hack a ships computer and claim the ship
There's a few ways to deal with heat. Ship radiators should be placed in the same rooms as the heatsinks, because they also act as coolers. So not only will they vent heat, they will cool the room they're in. Each radiator can be set to a temp. You need to set each one, by default they get set to 70F. Keep in mind these are only used when the ship shields and cloaking are turned off. I usually set heatsink rooms to fridge temperatures
Ship vents however always work, and will use heat from the heat sinks to heat rooms. I use these to keep other rooms at room temperature. There's a toggle to turn off power use and use heatsink heat instead. The more of these you use to heat other rooms, the more likely heat sinks will drain heat. These should not be used in the same room as heat sinks
If the heat sink rooms are super cold, they will bleed heat much faster. It is entirely possible to have zero heat buildup with cloaking/shields enabled with proper heat rooms
Resources are usually gained from orbital sites you can scan from, but the meat of your resources are going to be from salvaging ships from combat. If you're using the Minify Everything mod (which a lot of people use) you need to make sure in the mod options that SOS2 objects are removed from Minify Everything, otherwise the ship salvage option will break when you use it and you'll get nothing
