Just want to know if you have a blueprint or "style" how you go with your base most of the time.

I build a big room that is connected with a mountain, then I have a small barracks bedroom right near it. The big room serves as a stockpile and workshop (temporary). As the time goes my pawns dig in the mountain. Now they have have lots of space + they can expand outside.

I try to ... start in the middle of the map ... then ...
... build hap-hazardly ...
... no walls ...
... double or triple thick structures.

I prefer an open "urban jungle" or city and play hide-and-seek, peek-a-boo, and ring-around-the-rosey for the most part.

i generally build a romanvilla
a large main building that has 1-2 opening into a courtyard and all doors into the building are only accsesable from the courtyard.
crops are mainly grown outside unless its a toxic cloud where i just roof up the courtyard and turn it into a indoor greenhouse.

Blackjack towns sound interesting. Going to have to give that a try.

Just a warning though, the guide's over a year old and was originally for A17, so you might have to hunt for compatible mods to replace the ones that are used. Luckily most of those do have replacements. After 1.0 releases and the appropriate mods are updated, or suitable replacements are found, I'll be finally updating the guide. ;D

As an example, wind generators are now 2x7 rather than 2x5, so the construction of the power farm is different now. :D
