- Good colonies have upwards of 10 pawns. I would make room for about 20-30 though. I would probably make this bedroom 18x6 to 26x10 and line either wall with beds. Making it long and narrow stop you from needing support pillars.
- End tables give a comfort buff if they're placed next to the head of the bed. I would leave space for these
- Leave space for dressers. I think one dresser can apply to multiple beds so you only need a couple in the middle of the room.
- Statues, carpet, and regular cleaning will ensure they find the room beautiful, and their "Slept in a good barracks" thought will overwhelm their "Shared room" debuff.
-Toss out all beds below Good. Uninstall the bed, then you can sell them to general goods traders. You want that beauty score high.
-Light and temperature control the room. Essential to fight the debuffs.
You're also going to get numerous disturbed sleep debuffs. Even a plain bedroom would be better, let alone the mood boost you'd get with any sort of impressive bedroom.
But I hear ya. 30 5x5 bedrooms take up a LOT of space. More than half the base usually. And having to make more after you have your walls and defenses situated, just compromises everything and is just a pain.
So if your going that route, make it large, put carpet down, have all the furniture excellent quality, and add a few sculptures. If the rest of your colony is impressive, then the mood buffs should be good enough anyway.
They don't like to make thier colonists happy and are then upset about thier virtual colonists being upset.... it seems like a wierd issue to have really.
Either care about the virtual colonists and meet thier expectations or just ignore them and be the all mighty dictator that we can all be!
Let the walls be slathered in the blood of foes and allies! Let the halls run with gore and vomit!
(except for the kitchen since food poisoning is no joke)
And finaly leave the corpses rotting on the field to warn all who come that no one is safe even if they are your own colonists!
If you want an impressive bedroom, within that 4x4, have a double bed, light, dresser, end table, sculpture, pot plant.
