Also, the update yesterday changed food selection process enough to break a few mods. I had to remove RimmsQoL, for example, because it was causing issues with both my animals and colonists eating.
The recent game update broke the mod [KV]RimFridge, causing meals to get stuck in a "reserved" state. Basically a bug you wouldn't see right away until all the meals on your map got stuck in that state.
RimFridge had an update to fix the issue, so if you are using Rimfridge, make sure you are peroperly getting the updated mod.
If you are using some other mod for storage of meals, it could have been hit by the same thing that effected RimFridge.
Edit to add: You should be able to see if you are affected by it. When pawns are not eating and you right click the meal does it say "Reserved by: xxx" on the command selection where you tell them to consume it.
I loaded up my save after I read this, and people started eating simple meals again, so I thought it was fixed. But again, they are opting for kibble over the simple meals.
I do see that they all have a debuff for eating a venerated animal though.
Confusingly, I haven't seen that animal in this playthrough though. The venerated animal is a husky, and my simple meals have definitely not been made with husky meat, so it seems that the update has ♥♥♥♥♥♥ some things up nicely.
Also, I check as you said, and there right clicking the meal doesn't say it is reserved by anyone. The only options are consume, pick up or merge.
Hopefully they will get it sorted out in the next day or two. For now, no rimworld for me I guess...
Poor huskies.
