Colonists ignoring clothing
Hi,

I stumbled across a quite strange bug or let's say occurance (it's 100% possible I'm missing something):

None of my pawns actually will wear ANY clothing, no matter the settings I put or the kind of clothing I provide. I can force wear without any issue and if I put them on nudist, they will strap naked BUT if I put it at anything else (back from nudist to anything f.e.) they just won't put on the clothes again, they'll just stay naked.
Same goes for tattered apparel, they'll be upset if it's tattered but won't put on new clothes (I even made sure to provide the exact same clothes in 100% durability).

I checked so far:
- specific clothing to wear, doesn't work
- put on 'anything' with every checkmark being set, doesn't work
- playing with durability and quality sliders, doesn't work
- stockpiles with clothing is set to 'normal' and is not in a forbidden area
- pawn is not a nudist
- I'm using quite a bunch of mods but an older save, from ~4 month ago uses 100% the same mods in the same load order and the issue doesn't appear
- I started a new game, with the same mods and load order, issue doesn't appear
- I started a new game, with no mods, issue doesn't appear
- unchecked and checked all jobs, to make all of them idle, to be sure they have 'time' to grab clothes, doesn't work
- paused, drafted pawn, changed clothing preferences, undraft pawn, unpause, doesn't work

Anyone ever encountered something similar? WTF am I missing? Don't think the save is corrupted, as yesterday everything was fine and earlier today it also worked (~3 hours ago for the last time), the only thing I changed during this time is that I'#ve set up a custom drug policy (which is working fine, they carry around and also take the penoxi and joints as they're supposed to)

In my own experience, sometimes it just takes them a bit before they'll switch attire - like, they'll finish the job they're doing, maybe grab a bite to eat, work on something else, and THEN go and change clothing.

So if they're just taking a bit, I wouldn't stress over it. Unless they're about to have a mental break from a -5 moodlet or whatever (in which case, why are they so low?) then it's not a disaster if they don't have pants for one afternoon.

Having said that, if they're staying naked for multiple entire DAYS at a time and aren't getting changed into suitable attire when it's available, then that probably is an issue and probably worth looking at.

Is this the point we blame mods? Because I'm willing to blame mods if there's a log. Or if a mod recently updated.

About 10 ingame days by now

I suspect that we're about to blame mods but as I haven't changed anything around with me mods, older games with the same mods work and even the same game with the same mods worked fine a few hours ago, I'm not really sure regarding blaming mods :(

If they will never wear their clothes, no matter how long it takes. Yeah, you KNOW it is your mods. Come on, you know it. Don't you think, even a little, that if this was a widespread issue that was in the base game that it would be fixed? Where are all the other people complaining about it? Hmmm? Yeah, just saying.

I recommend creating a separate save, stripping your mods out, loading the save and let it run. If the issue persists turn the mods back on and come back here decrying me. I won't mind.

But come on, you know it is the mods. We all know it.

I myself had an issue last night, a couple of my pawns wouldn't wear clothes to replace the ones I had just had them drop. But they eventually got around to it, just a couple real world minutes later. I am not currently using any mods though.

Well ... I wouldn't say that I know it's the mods ... although it's pretty likely, yes indeed but then again, in ~400 hours with pretty much the same mods, same mod order, no new updates on those recently, why didn't it happen already and why can't I reproduce the issue, except on this safe? *sigh*

Oh and as asked, for sure there is a error log ;)

Welp, guess I got to restart my Crimson Cartel (only trading drugs + organs while being located in the jungle) then *sigh*

Okay, yeah - that ain't right. :-)

Try deleting their outfits entirely and making brand new ones? Those mods may have changed recently and something about the saved outfits might be corrupt.

I got it! It's not the mods! Or maybe it is but not the mods in themself but a very specific interaction which can only be triggered in a very specific way:

- Have 2 different apparel stockpiles, with different durability %
- Change the "Anything" outift to any other outfit (tried nudist as most clear to see)
- Change the "Nudist" outift back to "Anything" and viola, pawns will ignore 100% of all clothing

To make them pick up clothing again, you need to change from "Nudist" (f.e.) to "Worker" (or anything else, which wasn't assigned formerly to the pawn), they will get some clothing and afterwards you can set it back ti "Anything" and they willl actually go for "Anything".

So the issue is changing between 2 outfits while having 2 seperate apparel stockpiles, solution is, just use a 3. "buffer" outfit :D

Yay game saved ^.^

PS.: Yeah probably still a mod issue though *gg*

Given the error you mentioned said the game tried and failed to get the pawns to change clothing, and JobGiver_OptimizeApparel.TryGiveJob() has three patches on it? Yeah, mods.

Ya, that's pretty common behavior as well. For example a lower durability stockpile near a smelter for getting rid of old gear, and people switching between combat and non-combat outfits depending on the situation, dealing with raids or going on caravans etc. If those steps normally caused any issues there would probably be many threads about it.

Currently experiencing this on one save but not on another save with the same mods enabled on both saves, (probably not same mods as OP), tried messing about with the outfits but I'm still getting the same error log spammed. Any suggestions?

Try deleting all your stockpiles which have Apparel checked and create a new stockpile for apparel, had only 1 stockpile with apparel left as I found the workaround. One of the most obscure bugs I've ever encountered anywhere *g*

Do you happen to have Awesome Inventory installed as a mod? Check in the modsettings if you've checked/unchecked the use of costumes, wasn't the culprit in my case but the only other thing I can think of, spontaneously
