Range psychic ship driving animals mad?
So I had a psychic ship land on my map. As I gathered my pawns and animals to attack it, it released a psychic wave driving all animals mad (manhunter, causing a fight between my pawns and animals). Does anybody know the range for this psychic wave? I was literally 10 seconds away from attacking the ship so I was very close when it happened.

The reason I'm asking is because if the range for this psychic wave is very large, then it's in my best interest to lock away my animals or move them far away on a caravan whilst my pawns deal with the psychic ship.

i may be mistaken but im pretty sure it is map wide (the playable area) so yeah you might have to do some funky things like sending everyone to another map tile to deal with it

I don't use animals that often and I usually deal with the psychic ship parts right away so I've only seen that maddening pulse a few times and never had it effect any colony animals that I remember, so I can't really say what the effect range is with any certainty. I assumed it was map wide as well, but I did a quick google search and from what I could find the range is actually fairly short so that simply not bringing your animals to the fight should be fine, unless it drops in the middle of your base.

How is that even possible? My animals are vital in locking down both melee and ranged enemies so that my colonists don't get overwhelmed by the enemies' superior numbers.

Ya, even when I do use animals it's almost never for combat, a few games back I had a self-tamed megawolverine from VE that I used a little bit against early raids before growing tired of it and butchering it. I just use turrets, traps, and cover positions to deal with enemies.
