IED question
Can IED traps be set off by random trade caravans passing by? :O

yes, there is a chance. It can also be set off by your colonist or wild animal. The same for a traps. However its not 100% as it is in case of hostiles.

Thanks for the answer :)
I might just use it then to lure out and blowup whatever is in that "ancient evil" place.

IEDs are pretty serious overkill for those. They only have a few enemies. You can just build a hallway in front of wherever you want to engage them, with cover available for you to shoot from, and fill the hallway with spike traps (make a door on the side that the person who deconstructs the wall can use to get in and out without risking the traps, or just have your pawns shoot the wall until it's destroyed).

Oh no way I thought there was something super hard to kill in there. I've been building up for ages to tackle it lol

It will either be a group of mechanoids or a few insect hives with a typical assortment of bugs. I believe insects require it to have under mountain tiles in it, so if it's free-standing it will be mechanoids.

Depends on the size of that thing and your weapons.

And firefight could wake up 3-8 well equipped mercs.

I could take 8 mercs with losses but not much more. Hmm its built into a hill full of steel which I've been dying to mine so I guess it must be insects then. Had some serious infestations lately so nothing new. Starship troopers time then :D

Oh right.
Try to come at it near one of its corners to minimize the chances that you hit one of the cryptosleep pods during the fight.

I cant find how to upload screenshots when I'm using my mac (i hate mac dont ask lol).

But I set up about 6 turrets and had all hands on deck behind some sandbags. IED's planted and opened up the side wall.
1 Mech melee
3 Mech Ranged
2 Mercs
No fatality's, minor injuries. SUCESS!!!
