Can domesticated animals die of old age?
I read that Pawns cant die because of old age but is that also the case for my tamed Animals?
Just wanted to know because if not Ill need to slaugher a few older animals now to thin the herd myself

There's no such cause of death as "old age" in the game.
Old age brings with it other health problems but isn't a direct cause of death.

Old age doesn't kill in real life, nor does it in the game. as stated above, It just brings many complications which lead to death. So everything in the game suffers the same, but you can keep them alive using transplants and bionics

My poor stallion named Feller kept breaking down and getting "lost" due to dementia lol

Animal life span is pretty irrelevant, even more so than with humans. An animal with a lifespan of 1 year can easily live decades without any serious problems. Eventually they will get a disease and the immunity gain slowing effect of old age reaches a point where they can't fight it and die, but since animal diseases are already trivial to deal with it's likely this effect will never reach a critical point over a moderate game length.

You will absolutely have to manage animal population numbers yourself.
