Hydroponics plants taking damage (bug?)
Hidroponics indoor, 21C, full battery near. Plants are growing, but slowly taking damage until they vanish. There are no defoliator ships on the map. Is this a bug? I'm not using any mods. Original game + Ideology (not Royalty).

[Spoilers] I had a colony, then accepted the quest for an archotech pieace, and started a new one with 5 guys, 2 died and now only 3 alive. Gonna starve because spent all my time into researching hidroponics only to find out it's not working.

Typically, plants only take damage in hydroponics bays either when the power is out, there's a defoliator ship, or they've gone too long without being harvested. Are they taking longer than normal to grow, maybe because of a lack of sunlight/growlight? Or because you're using skylights and there's a volcanic winter or something else that occludes the sun?

Are they blighted?

They are fine. Is it because they are close to the archotech structure?

can you do me a favor? go into dev mode, destroy the hydroponics, replace the ground below with soil (set terrain) and try growing something there and tell us if they get damaged, to

I don't know how to enter dev mode, but the ground below it is Rough-hewn limestone

Save your game.
Go into Options, on the third column there is an option to turn on development mode. White buttons will appear at the top center of the screen, click on debug actions menu (should be fourth from the left), click on 'destroy' and destroy the two hydroponic basins, go back to debug actions menu, click on 'set terrain', click on 'soil'. Make a small patch of soil where the hydroponics used to be, set a growing zone over the soil, have your pawns plant something, do the plants get damaged?

first: save your colony!

go into the options menue, right side, there should be the option "development mode", activate that

now, on top of the screen, you have some small symbols, use the first coursor that looks like it points towards a cogwheal, upper left, type "set ter" as search and select the highlighted one and place soil where the hydroponics is.
now, click on the face mask on top to enter god mode, now, deconstruct your hydroponics (if you have already queued the command, deactive the command and deconstruct it again)

after that,m create a new growth zone

to late!

Thanks for the steps, I did it, and yes, the plants on the ground are taking damage too

Yup. It's the archotech buildings. I'm looking at the files right now.

<li Class="CompProperties_PlantDamager"> <ticksBetweenDamage>6000</ticksBetweenDamage> <radius>32</radius> <damagePerCycle>10</damagePerCycle> <cycleCountOnSpawn>4</cycleCountOnSpawn> </li>
Within a radius of 32, it will do 10 damage per cycle.
<li Class="CompProperties_SpawnSubplant" MayRequire="Ludeon.RimWorld.Royalty"> <compClass>CompSpawnImmortalSubplantsAround</compClass> <subplant>Plant_GrassAnima</subplant>
It looks like only the anima tree and the anima grass are immune to this. So if your anima tree spawned near the buildings, they'd be safe. Good to know.

Thanks. Would've been more intuitive if the game told us that, or at least the radius were the same as the visual effect around the building.

You can turn off dev mode and reload your last save. You'll have to move your hydroponics further away from the buildings.

It is pretty mean that it doesn't tell you, but I guess part of the lore is that archotech things give off radiation or something? Idk.

Is the archopsychic drone effect the same size perchance? Or is that limited to the visual effect?

The -5 emanation has the same radius as the visual FX
