The drop pod raids? It's always been a thing.

Since 1.0 at least. They are pretty rare, but they happen from time to time. scattered landings are easier, but late game you can get entire mech armies landing in your base, so prepare accordingly.

Yeah, it happens very rarely in my experience, but it has been a thing for quite a while. If you really dislike it, 1.2 had mods that enabled you to build 'undrop-poddable' roofs. Not sure if the mod has updated, but ti's relatively balanced due to how expensive the roof is to make.

Yeah for a long time

If you don't like it, there are mods out there that can mitigate it - though usually for a *very* heavy investment in research, power, and materials. Rimatomics offers the TACS radar system that can scramble drop pods that would have landed in your base, instead sending them to random places all over the map. I think there's one that lets you project an energy shield around your base to prevent drop pod assaults, but takes something like 5k or 10k power to keep running constantly.

Bro you sling mods like a crack dealer. And then the board fills up with all these "Bugs"

I got bad news for you - even mechs can drop inside your base....

did you seal up your base with walls and/or turrets? once you build walls and turrets around your base, the chances of a drop pod raid increases dramatically.

but if you avoid them, drop pod raids are almost 0%.

Also dig into mountains. Dealing with insects is easier than dealing with mech drop-pods inside your base.

Plus, insects provide a ton more rewards. Insect meat is great for making kibble. I think you can even use it in Nutrient Paste dispensers and not get the "Ate Bugs" debuff, maybe?

And then there's all that delicious, valuable Insect Jelly.

Turrets can help defend against this some. Help, but no get rid of completely.

Drop raids have been around for a long time but they sort of fell off after 1.1 or so. Now they seem to be back with a vengeance.

Yeah, pretty much always, not not that frequent. Nothing disrupts the colony picnic day like a mech swarm landing nearby.

True, also if you're not stuck in the past and have ideology, some of them even find insect meat delectable.

Drop pod raids at least are higher "cost" and will be smaller than a normal raid, usually aren't too bad to deal with as long as you have some inner defenses.
