I'm using the small turrets, and I think you might be right in that it's a mod issue, since I can't find anybody else with this same issue online. I'll wait until the next prison break and try and turn off all my mods.
Thanks for the reply
IIRC, they don't actually turn "hostile." Their only goal is to reach a map edge. They will pick up a weapon if it's on their path and they may attack/defend themselves, but their goal is just to reach the map edge.
IIRC.... that is. I don't have many prisoner escapes and, if do, they don't get very far. I do remember one instance, long ago, where a prisoner navigated past turrets and those turrets did not respond to them at all. Though, I assume traps/IEDs would still treat them as "enemies."
PS: I don't pay much attention to the mechanic, just avoid putting weapons nearby and an easily accessible exit. :) I could be entirely wrong and the game could be classing them as true "hostiles." But, they don't go out of their way to attack anyone. It's sort of like the "predator" thing when a colonist is being hunted. Changes have been made, here and there, that could effect either situation too.
I could swear my turrets would fire at them pre 1.3 and Ideology, like i'm 99% sure. But I'll return with answers after my next prison break without mods.
