Spiritual Leader Role
In my colony, I have severe difficulties keeping the "spiritual leader" pawns (ones who hold conversion rituals) happy. They are constantly on break risks. This stems from their expectations being raised by 2 levels. How can I make this more manageable?

Mostly make sure you have enough recreation sources, that's the main issue with higher expectations. Get a harp, TV and telescope up pretty quickly. Then don't assign anyone to those roles if they have traits that negatively impact their mood or mental break chance by a significant amount. Your ideology should have more than enough mood bonuses to cover the drop otherwise. Expectations +2 is -12 mood, equipping their favored weapon, the right ideological clothes, and building stuff in your ideology's style for them to be near is like +10-12 right there.

Taking them on caravans is going to be tricky though, unless they have good traits for that.

Give them very nice bedrooms. Make sure their needs (both normal and ideological) are fulfilled. Maybe even cut them into a smokeleaf schedule or something. I typically set scheduled drugs for 1 every 3 days if their mood drops below 30%. That way, they can't do it often enough to build up a huge dependence or get addicted, but it's often enough that it should help to keep their moods up.

And if you have Pain is a Virtue as a meme, randomly beat them up every few days whenever their mood is really low. They love that.

Note that eventually, your colony wealth will become so great that they will get a mood debuff simply because they cannot be kept in exquisite luxury 100% of the time - you'll see how all your other colonists have the ordinary "sky high expectations" for neither a mood buff nor a debuff, but they want even more than you can actually provide.

If you cannot support their lifestyle just yet, dismiss them from the position for the time being.

I don't know, guys.

I have the raider precept that gives a +12 on a recent conquest - Cool, but it doesn't cover for the higher expectations when you consider that my guy has the tortured artist trait, which is a pain. I don't have much of a choice, they're the only one with decent social skills. I have only medieval entertainment options available, but if I don't have someone assigned to the role everyone gets a -5. That just makes things harder for everyone else.

I'll try my best with your advice and the options I have available, but it'll be tricky.

this sorta sums up rimworld at its best. When the systems intertwine to make the "best" path not immediately clear I think the game is most fun/interesting. The dlc does a decent job of throwing more complexity by adding a lot more positives and negatives to consider when managing your colony.
