Gauranlen moss doesn’t survive underground?

I play underground and love trees it’s nice used for wood and medicine ( I play tribal ) But I noticed that the Gauranlen foam does not seem to survive ,which is a shame because it is convenient for the beauty of my gloomy caves
This is normal? a forget? or a bug?

i think like most grass it needs light. though i didnt know you could plant a tree in an area that has roof or overhead mountain. that might be the issue here...

As far as i know it's actually a feature that you're able to plant them inside Caves or maybe even Buildings?? (I'm not sure, i have not tried this out). They can grow on fungal gravel and don't need light to survive.

The moss however should grow on any fertile tile in a radius of 8 blocks. Maybe there aren't any fertile tiles near the tree? Try building fungal gravel around the tree if you haven't already and see if it changes anything. Altough i think the moss is spawned upon planting the tree..

Yes they can be planted inside of buildings

Theres a *specific* reason you can't do this.

On OP's question, have you waited a few days? the moss should start growing back as far as I know. You do need that fungal gravel to accomodate for it.

You can technically plant them inside of buildings, so long as you don't build a roof over them, but the surrounding walls and other artificial stuff will make it much harder to maintain a decent connection, so it's not worth it in that regard.

The roof hole isn't currently necessary. Other trees cannot be placed under roofs, gauranlen trees can, under both thick and thin roofs-- as the OP mentioned it is possible this is a bug, but if it is a feature then gauranlen trees are specially special trees :p

I agree it is sub-optimal to use inside trees for connection due to the building interference. For ideologies with tree connection meme though they get a huge mood boost just for seeing a gauranlen tree (and a penalty for not seeing trees) so a tree can be left untended purely for mood reasons if you have the seeds to spare. works best for dining+production+barracks mega rooms.

To clarify the problem ,when planting the tree ,the mosses are present even they end up dying and never grow back
Yes there is fungal gravel around the 3 trees ,there is no construction carried trees

Just doing this for myself, since testing it exclusively is hard. Seems that the cycle is just a lot slower, the moss has started growing back, but months after it died, rather than days. I don't know what factors affect the moss yet.
