Instead of a fence you can use a wall to avoid them going into the pen
the infosceen helps to see which animals climb fences
There is a mod that makes fences impassable, but as you would expect, this makes fences extremely OP.
Just curious, how would it make fences OP? Does it change their health? Because as it is, a single stray bullet or even an arrow can destroy a section of fence, so they're no replacement for actual walls.
Fences are really for aesthetics OR for use within a walled base. Inside a walled base, fences work very well for their purpose.
I'd guess because at that point you should just be building a wall. Otherwise the fences are just embrasures by another name.
Right now, their small usefulness combined with their low cost, they feel like an better looking version of animal zones from before 1.3. While they give the whole animal stuff a much better look and feel, I would rather have them take more ressources to build but being actually useful against animals.
It's not the wild or tamed stat that stops them it is the stat that says whether or not an animal is stopped by fences. Any animal that is stopped by fences will be stopped by them, even if they are wild. Any animal that is not stopped by them, will not be stopped by them even if they are tame.
You can see this info by clicking on the animal, then click on the lower case i in their info panel. Look in those stats, probably can even search for "fence" in the search box, and it will show you the stat that lets you know whether or not that animal is blocked by fences. Much like real life, predators do not care about fences.
