You can plant Gauranlen Seeds in tree growing zones in the gaps where a tree has been cut, or in between trees.
And then a pawn with Plant Cutting enabled will walk by and chop it down immediately.

It took me 10 years in-game to see my first Gauranlen Pod. The tree lasted all of 4 hours before a cutter ended its life. RIP.

I also have felt your pain. I put mine in the middle of my fungal growth cavern and forgot that it would count as "cut" when I put down a growth zone.

There should be warning like with anima trees.

Ouch.

Re: waiting 10 years for your first pod: you can change your rituals to reward you a pod upon a successful completion. Much better than waiting for a random event to bless you.

I'm not sure where or how to do that. I'm not even a nature-loving ideoligion. I'm playing a Transhumanist ideoligion. I had assumed that nature-lovers had other, faster ways to get the pods and I just lucked into a random event intended to let non-naturists get some.

My custom ideology is vegetarian but doesn't venerate trees... I chopped down the first anima tree that popped up and I'll probably chop down a guaranlen tree if it ever seeds ;)

Correct, you need to have the Gauranlen connection precept (through either the tree connection or nature primacy memes).

According to recent patch notes, you get the pod once a year without and once year with the tree connection meme on a pawn. Other than that rituals or gaumakers can give you more. I'm assuming it took you 10 years because most of that would be before the patch. On the other hand, how'd you get to ten years so fast. It took me like 50-60 hours for 8.5 years, do you have a time speed mod? mine doesn't seem to make the game faster.

I play pretty much permanently on 3x speed and avoid pausing as much as possible. I also leave the game running unattended a lot. My dream colony is one where I have to do as little as possible other than plan expansions and improvements, so I try to minimize micromanaging I have to do. (Which is why I will not play Transhumanists in the future unless I can figure out how to get them to automatically use their biosculpter pods.)
