Entering a Hex just for resources?
Wasn't this a thing back in yonder days?

Currently doing a tribal start w/ Ideology that involves no killing of innocent animals. Settled in a desert and all I need are a couple of days worth of foraged food until the rice comes in.

Been thumbing through the workshop for a 'Resource outpost' mod I remember seeing a good while ago but with no luck.

There's the Setup Camp mod that lets you set up a (temporary) camp in a hex in order to hunt and forage. Is that the kind of thing you mean, mate?

Can set up a new colony there... then abandon it when it's stripped of resources (or use it as an exile location for troublesome pawns)

You can set the maximum number of colonies in the options. That will allow you to create a second settlement and just abandon it when you're done.

Awesome, exactly what I was looking for. I was searching for 'Outpost' and 'resource base'.

Also wasn't aware of maximum colonies option as well. Appreciate the help all. o7

One thing to keep in mind about the number of bases. Someone here will probably correct me, but I seem to recall that starting a new base and then abandoning it still counted towards your maximum number of bases. Is that right, or am I remembering it wrong?

I never thought about that. I guess I never abandoned that many bases. You could very well be right so that is definitely something to keep in mind

An abandoned base does not count against your total bases. A somewhat popular challenge mode is a nomadic tribal playstyle where you abandon a base, travel a bit, settle somewhere new for a while to gather resources, then repeat.
