Anyway, it's clear that the styling station is clashing with mods.

I'm not even using any mods and the station is broken for me. Every time a pawn gets the "wants to change styles" mood they go to a station and just restyle themselves forever. They do it until they collapse, then get up and do it again. They might have a mental break, but then they'll just go back to cutting their hair again, generating a huge pile of it around them on the floor.
The only solution I've found so far is to remove the stations entirely.
Saw that tread but there is just peoeple complaing in there. hope to share some info about this but so you can get the best out of what now in the game.
What if you manualy oped for a style change? does it bring up the window? It should say in the top left of that tab what needs to be changed for them to be happy. dont think they can or should do it on their own. I had a raider that i converted and he had spike/punk looks but did not wanne be like that with his new faith.

Im still waiting on a trader to see if bough + modded items do work or not.
This has just happened to me too, but I do use mods. She wanted a hairstyle change so I built the styling station and chose a new haircut. When she went back and started trying out new styles I assumed that she'd choose one that is more suitable for her religion or something, but she just kept cutting it and cutting it for hours and the floor was completely covered in hair, it really looked like she was having a breakdown but without any mood debuff. I drafted her up, undrafted her, she started cutting her hair again. So I changed her hair back to a cuter style and then had to keep her drafted up while someone else dismantled the styling station.
While selecting the new hairstyle, I noticed that the preview was not updating to the style I selected, but that could have been caused by a mod I guess, and otherwise it was working fine. I have not tried dyes yet.
