Rimworld Crashing at startup [FIXED]

My Rimworld keeps crashing at startup and the unity crash report isn't being generate. I've tried reinstalling, verifying game file integrity, restarting computer, manually removing all game files and nothing has worked.

The unity crash report UI shows up for half a second, then closes. Im not sure why this is happening.

Any help would be appreciated.

After another couple of launches. This problem might be related to my dual monitor set up. I have a laptop as my computer and secondary screen. But i use another monitor as my main display.

If i try to launch the game on my monitor, the game crashes. But if i launch the game on my laptop screen, the game will launch successfully.

What I did after that, if put the game into windowed mode, and transferred the window to my monitor, and returned it to full screen.

Now that game will launch on my main monitor, but it will launch in an odd 1920x960 resolution.

I changed it to 1920x1080, and now the game will launch on my main monitor, no problem. Even through steam.

Hopefully this helps someone. Seems like an odd issue to have.

I did forget about the AppData folder, I tried deleting the ModConfig.xml, with no luck. Then I tried removing the whole "Ludeon Studios" folder, so that it would generate a clean one, but still no luck. I uninstalled and reinstalled Rimworld between each of these actions.

If you also use prepatchers, injectors, or fastloaders, including and especially Rocketman, it is advised you fully uninstall Rimworld and reinstall only after deleting the core folder and steam downloads folders for the game, as these mods leave behind files that linger even when unsubscribed. Specifically the Soyuz module of Rocketman.

I did forget about the AppData folder, I tried deleting the ModConfig.xml, with no luck. Then I tried removing the whole "Ludeon Studios" folder, so that it would generate a clean one, but still no luck. I uninstalled and reinstalled Rimworld between each of these actions.

Yup, I did the same thing, deleted the whole "Ludeon Studios" folder and it still crashes on startup.

Odd thing is I can get it working on another machine with the same mods etc.

kilikamyst, clicking on play from steam, still doesn't work but I just went to the files directly on the drive, steamapps\common\RimWorld and double clicked on RunWorldWin64.exe and the game loaded up fine.

I'm curious if that works for you.

What the heck is steam launching that craps out if I can just run the game exe and it works just fine

I used to be able to run the exe once I started experiencing the same issues as you from steam then that stopped working all-together and now all I get is two seconds of the unity crash handler. Anyone have an actual fix?

Thanks for the suggestion, tried turning it off and the VR option and didn't make a difference.
