Give it a few weeks and there'll be mods that add in new memes and precepts so that there's true representation of real-world religions. A colony of Jehova's Witnesses that get a debuff if they haven't gone bother their neighbors in the last 15 days, Satanists that get a mood debuff if they haven't redeemed anyone in the last 15 days. Maybe a Shinto religion that lets you build shrines in different types of terrain for different ceremonies. Who knows?
It aren't very in-depth or unique ideologies.
then why didnt they add options to recreate christian/islam/hindu/buddhism instead of adding them specifically? its not consistent. IE add monotheism and polytheism instead.
Satanism is derived more from judaism than christianity but okay. Also chrstianity derives more from buddhism and judaism from ugarit.

If there was any pandering happening the game would have included a Scientology option.
I hear that if you say the word 'Scientology' three times while looking in a mirror. L. Ron Hubbard appears with his favorite hookers and beams you back to his yacht.
