Has anyone figured out how Blind psysense works?
I started a blind colony and the negitives of everyone blind and also effected by darkness is rough, just got my first psylink hoping at least it would help but seeing no effect there, no idea how this psyscense is suppose to work.

It increases psychic sensitivity by a significant chunk.

+ 30% psychic sensitivity

... Wait, so it doesn't actually do anything to compensate the blindness?... That seems, ugh, rather pointless?

Why would it? You are trading their sight for something else.

well it describes it as them seeing a different way, that normal sight gets in the way, i figured it would also compensate for the blindness as well as thats a very heavy penalty

Your guys are literally blind ensuring they can barely defend themselves and the only thing you get is a measly, borderline useless +30% sensitivity?

Good luck hunting... or fighting... It seems like an option made for builder-difficulty lol.

Then again, I guess you could use only traps and automated defenses. Might as well make your pawns incapable of violence. Could make for a fun roleplay though. Blind, incapable of violence inventors who live in the mountains... Actually, nevermind, blindness (lack of the sight stat) pretty much affects most work types, so you'd still be gimping yourself quite a lot. It seems really unbalanced and boring. Would've been more fun if the blindness enhanced your other senses to compensate or you were able to have 150% psychic 'sight' in a really small radius... maybe right next to your pawn? Could make some really cool melee-based colony.

I am finding it fine on randy rough, blinding them gives them a free psy level, with tribal start it makes it extremely easy to just powerlevel psycasters. It took me less than 2 in game months to have everyone get psy levels.

Fair enough, I guess if everyone's a blind psychic, it should be manageable.

Blinding them drops the value quite a bit and if you rely mostly on melee you can just mob people, you also don't have to blind everyone. You can take the mood hit on a few until you are ready for it.

Also the ritual to blind them will also give them a free psylink level or power.

0 sight for a single psy level is pretty rough, i guess il just have to wait and hope modders work with this, i was thinking of something like in warcraft with the demon hunters, they have their own improved sight, the downside is you would need to have psy levels to really get the sight back (my own thoughts would be like 1-3 your sight is still sub par, and of course 0 at no psy level, and at the highest levels you have "better" vision. sadly the vanilla psyfocus abilities are usually not worth taking a signifigant hit on every other action.

I'm having the same kind of playthrough.... I don't mind my lvl 17 Constructor still failing from time to time to build basic furnitures. But when my guys have troubles doing 3v1 against a squirrel manhunter and all end up bleeding quite a lot....

I don't hunt much so it's not too bad there, but I'm really wondering how the fighting is going to be handled on the long term... Can build turrets for defenses, but I'll be useless for any quests outside of my bases. :s

If you just get the sight back it kind of loses it's point, the increased psychich sensitivity allows you to build psylevels faster through an anima tree. You can get super jacked up psychichs very quickly with blindsight + pain is virtue

Blinding everyone also isn't needed. Keep a few sighted for defence until you have enough berserk pulse + turrets
Kalisa Jul 21, 2021 @ 6:52am
they dont need their sight back, but stats to compensate since sight is used in almost everything, when you have these blind traits then perhaps they should give us a modifier in those same skills, it just feels like a pretty massive hit for the bonuses you get, even the darkness gives better bonuses, i just dont see why some psychic blind person cant learn to sense enemies in combat to fight with equal or greater ability if they are a very powerful psychic.
