Cannibalism Ideology is totally knackered as is.
Look, if there's a religion that has cannibalism as a part of it, there should be no debuffs for eating human meat. It's absolutely bonkers that people join a religion where cannibalism is required, and yet can't stand to partake in it. It literally makes ZERO sense.
Anyone else agree?
No?
Just me?
Ok. I guess I just won't have a conan universe themed religion, and to hell with me for trying.

Yeh. You join the ideology, you don't get to regret eating people XD
Kasa Jul 21, 2021 @ 4:44am
what are you talking about?
I don't even have Cannibalism as part of mine and I still can set it so that my pawns are fine with eating human meat with no debuff.

*Edit:
The debuff has started showing up recently

People that join does not always share the same ideology as the ones already there. There is a role that can be filled that has the possibility to convert others to your own.

I think what is meant is that people that join your ideology that don't have the cannibal trait are still getting mood debuffs for cannibalizing

They were all a part of my custom ideology. They were my starting pawns, even. My colony fell apart in less than a season because of this.

just cook the human meat, then no debuff, unless you're experiencing a bug?

No, if you set your precept for cannibalism to not care or enjoy it then the trait isn't needed and anyone that is a member of your ideology will get no penalties from it. I did the same as Kasa, my colony doesn't even have the cannibal meme, I just set cannibalism to "don't care" and human meat is just treated like normal meat. Nobody gets debuffs for butchering humans or eating the meat.

If you choose Cannibalism as required (strong or ravenous) you don't get any debuffs from eating human meat,no matter if they're cannibals/psychopaths or not... as it should be.
You get buffs instead, and debuffs for NOT eating human meat. No idea what you guys set it to but even the lower levels should do the same thing.

Unfortunately, colonists still get debuffs for BUTCHERING humans, which actually should be changed. Apparently even cannibal cults are not okay with preparing the food they eat... makes zero sense.
Astasia Jul 21, 2021 @ 9:56am
My colonists don't care about butchering humans. I have a Kind/Nudist/Brawler that does my butchering, she is completely fine with it.

There are two other settings that might be relevant, the Corpses setting which I have on "Don't Care" and the Organ use setting which I have on "Acceptable." Cannibalism is also set to Acceptable. There are no penalties at all for anyone from butchering or eating people.

I have those settings the same way (cannibalism meme literally requires you to have Organ use acceptable) so that's not it. Only my psychopaths and bloodlust people are fine with butchering humans for some reason, everyone else still gets a -6 to mood every time we butcher a human. Which is completely nonsensical

i have the same issue with the "cannibalism required (ravenous)" trait.
colonists are required to eat human meat BUT hate butchering people and eating them raw and get the mood debuffs.
but they still get the "ate human meat" happy buff. doesn't make any sense to me.

Glad I'm not the only one experiencing this. It seems so freakin weird that it must be a bug.

After some digging, I found that "Humanoid Alien Races" was the mod that was causing the "butchered humanlikes" negative thought issue for me. If you have this mod, you can remove it and you will stop getting it (although it will remain if you already have it).

Except that this happens in vanilla too. Almost helpful Sotetsu, but not in this case.

If you set your Ideology to Cannibalism, your cannibals will be happy eating human meat, but not in butchering human corpses.

Maybe it's like how people that don't like to go to church still consider themselves followers of that faith?
