Ideology diversity
We keep hearing that ideologies and social systems that have craaaazy cannibal and moon worshippers and all of these completely out there concepts. That's great. I love it.

However, one thing I don't see them talking about is the more ... normal ideologies?

By the very nature of the set up, one of the most common factions I play in this game can be described as "the Desert Rangers" from Wasteland. Which is to say a military organisation struggling to survive in a hostile world, but also to bring law and order to an orderless world.

It's a pretty straight forward concept for Rimworld, I feel.
I'm worried that ideology will bring little to such a playstyle however. I guess we won't have to wait long to see. But I hope we can see content for making our forts feel more like a military or feudal holding. It would be nice if it allowed us to stratify our societies by creating separate rules for nobles (even those not assigned Imperial titles) and lower classes. I'd really dig it if we could make it so our nobles refused to (or got very unhappy from) touching corpses in a sort of samurai ethic.

Pretty much every corporation is pro-communism these days

Sweet, I always thought they'd be the holdouts. That solves the 'fleeing capital' problem. :)

When you talk about

You've already shown that you're buying into corporate sponsored, Twitter friendly ideologies. Welcome to normality.

??

The normality described that I'm glad I don't live in has nobility and a class system. So, am I to understand you think luxury gay space communism is corporate sponsored twitter friendly normality and therefor the same as nobility and a class system? Also, I'd like to know which corporations are calling for luxury communism of any kind so I can join up.

Man, what madman would say "I would like to live on Rimworld"?
It seems akin to saying "I'd like to die on Rimworld." Because one would. Quickly.

I don't wish for an existence where I have to contend with pirate raids and swarms of man-eating megabeavers. Let alone in a survivalist military force or a neo-feudal society.

None of our Rimworlds sound appealing. No world watched over by Randy is one you should want to live in.

Yeah, that makes sense. I was just wondering why nobility and class system is seen as the 'normal' option, I thought it was a funny observation to point out that you called that normal.

Because there is an expansion dedicated to that variant of gameplay. Normalcy through intended gameplay loops. Playing a colony of cannibal raiders can be fun, but considering you need to use a mod to ensure your population is okay with butchering and eating people would suggest that this is unintended gameplay (as it is very difficult to achieve in vanilla Rimworld (until now)) and therefore abnormal. Normal is a description, it is not a prescription.
