This does not happen very often at all, and the number of allies you have doesn't change the frequency. I believe the exact rate, is that for every 24 hours an enemy exists on your map, allies have a 25% chance to send an allied raid. So essentially every 4 days of a high threat existing will get you one allied raid on average. Normal enemy raids tend to be over within a few hours, so you can go quite a while without seeing allies helping you.
You can also request one of these allied raids through the coms console on demand, for a cost.
Nah, if they die to a fire or wild animals you might get a minor rep hit, but there's no penalty at all from them dying to normal combat. The entire group could get wiped out by raiders and you are fine, just more loot for you to pick up.
Hahaha, cough cough, they sure do try!
With friends like these you dont need enemies, lol
