Request for change: Traveler Betrayal - Warning and Retaliation
I was hoping for a change in how Weary Travelers betray you and turn hostile"

1. If one of the travelers is accepted into permanently joining the colony, there is a chance that he/she will shortly afterwards warn you that the rest of the party plans to turn on you.
Betrayal Imminent:
"Having joined your colony, (name) warns you that the other travelers plan to betray you. He/She doesn't know when or what their goal is.
You can choose to arrest or banish them but they may decide to retaliate."

Number 2 is already a thing. There are three possible outcomes to imprisoning or killing a refugee:
-They don't react and get a large mood penalty,
-They decide to leave and walk off the map.
-They all instantly turn hostile and attack.

I don't know if refugees will ever join you if they are planning to betray you. I don't remember seeing that happen.

I've had refugees ask to join and have accepted refugees and then had the rest of the group betray me. So I know it happens.

Really if they intend to betray you, they should bring better weapons.....
Pre 1.3 experiences
Happened several times that one member of a refugee group offers to join, and later the refugee group betrays me. Through save-loading experimentation I found that the refugee offering to join will betray me with the friends unless I accept their offer before their friends decide to betray me. I'd expect it works the same way in 1.3 but haven't played as much of 1.3 so the scenario hasn't come up.

Can agree option 2 is already a thing, pawns that join seem to have a 50/50 chance of the betrayal. if they don't then they stay as your colonist and don't get the mood debuff when you kill their former mates, depending on mods and base location if the leader gets instant killed and you have hospitality the other follower instantly turn into guests, I had this happen a couple of times. They do end up with the mood debuff, most resent one was weird thanks to Randy. The leader started the betrayal, surrounded by 5 of my pawns instant death. Other 3 revert to guests, soon after 1 has a mental break to kill my animals (I didn't have any) 1 random polar bear on the map, RIP pawn 2 other guests ran to help, 1 died to the bear, 1 died to infection, 1 died to sorrow/mental break during winter of -117°. No debuff to the colony since guests and faction died so no negative hit there.
