How long do your colonies last?
So how old is your oldest colony and how long do they usually last?

My game starts lagging like ♥♥♥♥ after 4 in game years, so I never get to play the end game. :D

Long enough till a new idea bothers me enough to start again. I never finish any games that way.

I just keep going til I can make ship or maybe travel to other side of the planet. Latter I havent done.... havent done royalty quest either.

Usually they go til something goes wrong and wipes out most everybody though.

Same, 700 hours in rimworld and I haven't finished even single playthrough yet.

my oldest colony was around 250 years
ofcourse heavily modded because you can basically achieve all the base game has to offer in 2 years

Gotta finish at least once, just for the ending creds and music

Usually like 0.5 to 2 years before I get bored and wanna try something else. Longest one was about 5 years before I realized the game literally couldn't do anything to meaningfully harm me and declared it an unofficial "win".

250 years? How is the lag?

How about mods?

about 15 frames and ticks a second at speed 1
it was also before most of the quest bs that seems to be the core of every update after v1, so lag was a lot less bad back then

My first game I decided its only over when I got a legendary golden grand statue in my dining and rec room. After having achieved that I send my animal trainer with all the colonies huskies (20 or so) into space.
The other colonists gathered around the statue and activated all orbital lasers they had at themselves while the dogs departed.
Was maybe 5-6 years.

After that I went for one of the victory conditions each, though often I start over in between after 2-3 ingame years.

Does FPS get less good the longer the game goes per se, or is it just the steadily accumulating pawns and items?

its lot like its an action game where stuff like that matters
frames will die, the game is horribly optimized and doesnt use multitreading while for some reason remembering every single piece of irrelevant equipment you ever crafted instead of just deleting the clutter after a shot time and only remembering masterwork and above
as a poor shortbow crafted in the first day isnt something that needs remembering unless it saved someone later, and its already remembering the battles
with that kind of programming its never going to last if you need 60 frames

the game remembers everything, so even with a limited number of people and stuff on the map it will eventually choke on its own

True, now that you write it, the events depicted in artwork have to come from somewhere. Pity, I planned to do a very long run with my current colony. Ill see how it goes.
