1.3 Possible bug re:chopping trees.

I've just started playing 1.3. My pawns are trying to clear trees for their construction and it just isn't happening. They chop the trees but only produce more and more lumber without actually removing the tree.

How frequently are bugs patched out of the beta branch? New to the community...not trying to rush, just wondering how much work I should put in to building around our new arboreal overlords.
