I CANNOT SETTLE A NEW COLONY
I have searched absolutely everywhere, and apparently absolutely no one on the whole planet is having my issue which is really completely pissing me off. I had to abandon my colony due to toxic buildup. I've had this colony for some time, and I don't want to lose them. So I caravan-ed everything up and moved a tile over, making sure to abandon the previous settlement. And then nothing, no settle button, nothing at all. I increased the option in the setting for the number of settlements, still no. No matter what I do, I cannot settle anywhere for any reason. I don't get the button, I don't have any option other than moving my caravan. Please, please help me.

There should be an option in the settings to limit how many colonies you can have at once. That's the only possible issue i'm seeing for you man

You need to officially abandon your base. IIRC everything you built there vanishes so be aware that you're leaving everything you don't take with you behind. Once you abandon you should be able to settle on a new tile. Click on your settlement in world map and it should give you the option.

You have the choice to abandon the colony if you want, but it's not necessary for toxic fallouts. That's not the usual way people deal with that event.

I don't think you can settle 1 tile from your original base, even if you set it to have multiple colonies. It has to be atleast 2 tiles away from any colony. Technically you don't even need to "abandon" it with it set to have multiple colonies. It could just be a 2nd base, a home away from home, and then just move back when the toxic is gone. No need to abandon

Don't have a save you can go back to and try things differently?

Ya you can't settle directly next to a colony, ruin, or faction base, you need to move at least a couple tiles away.

I have tried to move more than one tile. I've moved my people like 20 tiles away and it does not give me the option to settle

Did you go into the game settings, and increase the number of colonies you can have at the same time? :-) The default value is 1.

As for Toxic Fallout, you can avoid the worst of it by keeping people indoors. If you have Sun Lamps, you can still do farming under a roof - even before you get Hydroponics technology.

Yeah toxic fallout diminishes the longer you stay inside and roofed. If you can get an inside garden going it's quite easy to mitigate. You can also get someone to quickly go out (by having different zone orders and letting them go out, assuming they're healthy enough) To pick up animals that are incapacitated and butcher them, the meat is good. If they're dead, the animal....or person... the meat is toxic so don't get dead animals to butcher. These are things we can do until you are able to leave. Is the colony limit able to be changed while you play? I literally, in all my thousands of hours, never tweaked it. What's wrong with me?

He said he did increase it

OP, if you can't settle even if a couple tiles away then the only thing that comes to my mind is a possible mod causing it. Are you using any mods?

Ah, yep. I somehow missed that detail - even though I'm sure I checked for it before typing. :-p
