Switching to electric work benches?
I've noticed some of the workbench types get a speed gain upgrading from fueled to electric, but others do not.

If I have a lot of fuel on hand, is there any other benefit to switching to electric for the ones that do not sooner rather than later? I'd rather burn down my fuel stack first if there is no other advantage.

Colonists occasionally have to stop working and refuel the bench which slightly impacts overall work efficiency. That's pretty much all I can think of. On the other hand they can keep working during a solar flare or brown out. So if you don't mind the fuel cost I don't think there is any pressing need to upgrade.

Just remember wood can be sold or turned into art/chemfuel. So there is a downside to just burning through your stacks of it.

I have a 1 square sized stockpile of fuel right inside the workshop and it's not like they need refuel very often so I'm not worried about refueling time atm. Maybe if I was a super big colony mass producing I would be.

I'll keep that in mind regarding uses for wood down the road (I don't have those technologies yet, as this was a tribal start). I have a MASSIVE amount of wood though, because at the start of the game I drew a huge grow zone all laround the base and set it to cut but not sow, which means every tree in my vicinity has gotten cut down once fully mature since I started this game.

Even a wood-fired generator with an electric stove/smithy is way more efficient than the fueled stove/smithy when it comes to fuel use, so if your intention is just to burn through as much wood as possible, use the fueled ones.

Yep, I want to get the size of my wood stockpile a bit smaller. It is taking up a LOT of space atm and I'd like to re-direct some of that space to other storage. I've actually turned off that automatic wood cut zone (at least for the moment) because it was getting out of hand.

Convert the wood to sculptures, a good and above ratet sculpture is a good way to increase the worth of the colony and for trade

RIght now my artistic pawns are all dedicated to converting marble to sculptures because I have a metric ton of that too.

I know wood sculptures are way faster to produce, so maybe I'll switch over just to burn through some wood quickly. Thanks for the tip!

Essential mod.
+1 for this tip.

I have actually already sub'd to a increases stack mod, but wanted to do a few playthroughs without going too heavy on what mods I add. As I play, I've looked for mods to sub to for things which bother/annoy me, and plan on turning them on in a future playthrough.

I admit I've got a few turned on though, mostly ones that add more variety to what I can build so my base is more attractive (to me, I mean). That and a few that enhance the animal variety and farming aspects, cause I love that stuff.

Alternativly convert the wood into traps for more downed pawnes :D

Or just make some wood floors in unfloored areas
